几乎什么也没留下。(2)almost不可与not单独使用,而nearly可与not
连用,notnearly意为“远非”。(3)一般说来,almost的差距比nearly小。
因此在“差一刻左右”开午饭时,可以说:It’snearlylunchtime.快到午餐的时间了。
在“差五分钟左右”的时候可以说:It’salmostlunchtime.马上就要吃午餐了。语法要点(2)nearly为副词,意为“几乎;差不多;将近”。
eg:Bruceisnearlytwenty.布鲁斯快二十岁了。语法要点2.wealthy/'welθi/adj.富有的;富裕的(1)wealthy的名词为wealth,意为“财富”。eg:hergreatwealth她的巨额财富eg:Hisfatherisawealthyman.他父亲是位有钱人。语法要点(2)wealthy的比较级为wealthier,最高级为wealthiest。
其同义词为rich,反义词为poor。语法要点3.fear/fɪə/n.担心;害怕(1)fear的形容词为fearful。常用句式为:eg:Herbrotherfeelsnofear.她弟弟什么也不怕。主语+befearfulofsth./doingsth.主语+befearful+that从句语法要点(2)用作名词。eg:Icouldn’tmoveforfear.
我害怕得动弹不得。(3)用作动词,既可作及物动词,也可作不及物动词。eg:Shefearsmice.她惧怕老鼠。
Shefearedforhissafety.她担心他的安全。语法要点4.thenumberof……的数量eg:Thenumberoftheworkersinthisfactoryis100.这个工厂工人的数量是100。语法要点
(1)辨析anumberof与thenumberofanumberof许多相当于many,修饰可数名词复数。作主语时,谓语用复数形式。number前可用large,small等修饰,以表示程度。Anumberofpeoplehavereadthebook.许多人已读过这本书。thenumberof……的数量跟复数名词连用作主语时,中心词是number,谓语用单数形式。Thenumberofthestudentsinourschoolisrisingyearbyyear.我们学校学生的数量在一年年地增长。语法要点5.double/'dʌbl/v.使加倍;把……增加一倍adj.(成)双的;两个……(1)作形容词,意为“两倍的;双的;供两者用的”。double无比较级。eg:Weshoulddoublesteeloutput.我们应该把钢铁产量增加一倍。语法要点(2)用动词,意为“(使)加倍”。eg:Tradebetweenushasalmostdoubledinthe
