Pupilsunscramblesentencesandwritetheanswersontheworksheet

Youwillneed:

1.Asetofthewordcards

2.Acopyoftheworksheetforeachgroupof10pupilsintheclass

3.Avisualiser

Steps:

Cutoutthewordcardsbeforeclass.Donotmixupthewordcardsindifferentsentences.

Dividetheclassintogroupsof10pupils.Choosealeaderforeachgroup.Giveeachgroupacopyoftheworksheet.

Showonesetofwordcardstothepupilsusingthevisualiser.

Thepupilsineachgroupworktogethertorearrangethewordsinthecorrectorderandwritethesentenceontheworksheet.

Askthegroupleaderstoputuptheirhandsoncetheirgrouphaswrittendownthecorrectsentence.Thegroupleaderwhoisthequickesttoraisehis/herhandcanthenreadouttheiranswerafteryouhavesignalledhim/hertospeak.Thegroupwinsonepointforacorrectsentence.Iftheansweriswrong,thegrouplosesthechancetoscoreandothergroupscantry.

Continuethegamewiththerestofthesentences.

Thegroupwiththemostpointsattheendofthegamewins.

Alternative:

Foramoreableclass,youcanusethesentencesontheWordCardsforMoreAblePupils.Tellpupilsthatthereisonedistractionineachsentence.
