ThePhilippinesintensifieseffortstowardscleanenergyfuelsandefficienttechnologiestodiversifythecountry’senergysupplymix.

TheTotalFinalEnergySupply(TPES)iscomposedofthefuelthatthePhilippinesutilizestobeabletousetheenergy.In2021,theTPESreached50.9milliontonsofoilequivalent(MTOE),whichisaround43%indigenousand57%imported.Thismeansthatwearestillvulnerabletothepricemovementsofourfuelintheglobalmarket.

Thegovernmentiscommittedtoenhancethecountry’srenewableenergycapacityandfurtherincreaseitsshareinthecurrentgenerationmix.

43%ofthetotalpowergeneratingcapacitycomesfromCoalpowerplantsand29%fromrenewable-basedpowerplants.Thishasacorrespondingpowergenerationmixshareof58%forcoaland22%forrenewableenergy–anodtotheglobalconsensusonRE’sresilienceinthefaceofthepandemic.
