Unit2FunFacts教学设计AFamousEnglishStorybook一、选材介绍本栏目取材于英国著名作家斯威夫特(JonathanSwift,1839-1903)的一部寓言小说《格列佛游记》(Gulliver’sTravel),小说分四部,第一部讲的是大人国的故事,第二部讲的是小人国的故事,这些故事已成为家喻户晓的童话故事,深受儿童喜爱。教材简述了这些故事,作为趣味百科阅读素材。其中,结合本单元学习内容,描述了大人国和小人国,人们的外貌和性格特点,如Agianthasabigmouth,abignoseandbigeyes.又如Theyarenotgood-looking.Theyarenotsmart.等。二、教学建议1.教学目标分为三个层次:词汇积累较少的学生可定位于第一层次,仅尝试理解文段的大意,知道大人国和小人醒的人的外貌和个性的Gulliver对于大人国人酬基本态度,并完成Thinkingtasks的任务;第三层次目标是在第二层次目标的基础上,探寻关于大人国和小人国故事的更多信息。对于接受本知识目标(LanguageFocus)尚有困难生,教师可暂缓活动。过程:基柿点;第二层次目标是在理解文段大意的基础上了解和小单元基本的学本栏目的2.教学1)读前活动。教师可呈现英文版配图的Gulliver’sTravels,让学生感知大人国和小人国的有趣图像,激发学生的想象,在此基础上引入已熟悉的本单元话题,并引导学生联想到描述人物外貌和个性的语词。2)读中活动。请学生翻到本页,开始第一次阅读,提醒学生粗知大意即可,不必拘泥细节。阅读完成后,可以让学生合上书本,进行简单问答。然后开始第二次阅读,要求学生标出重点语句(描述大人和小人的外貌和个性的语句)。如需要,可进行第三次阅读,完整了解重要信息。3)读后活动。完成阅读后,除了进行必要的问答、落实主要意思的理解外,还可进行小组讨论,教师应根据学生英教师也可在阅读理解本文段的基础上引申出相关的问题,指导学生发表书面意见。鉴于学生的听说读写技能水平不同,语言知识的掌握水平也不同,教师在安排本栏目的教学过程有三种处理模式:第一种办法是完全在课堂中实施;第二种是课堂与课外结合实施;第语的实际情况指导小组讨论,如果学生已经具备较好的写作能力。1

三种是课内不实施,由教师辅导在课外活动中实施。3.活动设计与实施:不管选择哪一种教学过程的实施,教师都可以组织不同的活动。这些活动包括:个人阅读理解活动,小组阅读理解活动;个人读写活动,小组实施读写任务;小组或全班实行探究拓展活动等。三、阅读指导:1.阅读方式的指导教师应当根据教学设计和活动设计的具体情况考虑阅读方式问题。从总体上说,学生第一次阅读本文段应当坚持自上而下(top-down)的整体阅读原则,引导学生把阅读焦点定位在主要意思上,此点取决于教师在阅读前如何设置阅读要求:提醒学生关注Gulliver遭遇到的两类人物,大人和小人。在第次二或第三次阅读中,教师仍应坚持以自上而下为主,在关注具体事实上,可以引导学生局部采取自下而上的方式进行事实的检点(checkingthedetailedfacts),如人物的外貌。2.阅读技能的指导本单元FunFacts的阅读技能培养可以选择以下阅读微技能目标:1)跨越专有名词词组,保持阅读信心,直接捕捉关键信息,如Everyonethereisbigandfat./Nooneisshortorthin./Everyoneissmall./A“LittleMan”canstand...in…hand.etc.2)根据上下文猜测词汇语义,如根据abigmouth,abignoseandbigeyes而猜测giant的意思。3.可能出现的问题及其解决方法本文段可能会造成学生对于意思理解的较大差距。了解《格列佛游记》故事梗概的学生比较容易迅速理解文意,而且会因此获得已有知识被激活的快感,不知道《格列佛游记》的学生理解文意的速度会慢于前者。建议用如下办法解决这个问题:可以首先征集学生的信息,邀请知道该小说的学生讲一讲自己对《格列佛游记》印象,但不要深入细节;也可以由教师介绍这部小说,请学生“漫谈”印象,缩小学生间信息落差。2
