thesisters,originalfirstpartdisappeared."HappyBirthdaytoYou"hadaltogether

Mozartwasagreatmusicianandcomposerwhosefamecontinuestogrowmorethantwo

centuriesafterhisdeath.HewasborninSalzburg,Austria,1756.Beforetheage

offour,hewasalreadyshowinggreatmusicaltalent.Hisfatherthendecidedtolet

himstarttakingmusiclessons.Theboy'sreputationasamusicalprodigygrewfast.

Atfive,hewascomposingmusic.Fromthattimeon,Mozartwasperforminginconcerts

andwritingmusic.Byhisearlyteens,hehadmasteredthepianoandtheviolin,and

waswritingsymphoniesandoperas.HisfirstmajoroperawasperformedinMilanin

1770whenhewasonly14.At15,Mozartbecametheconductorforanorchestrain

Salzburg.In1781,heleftforVienna,wherehewasingreatdemandasbothaperformer

andacompositionteacher,andhisfirstoperawasasuccess.Butlifewasnoteasy

becausehewasapoorbusinessman,andhisfinanceswerealwaysinabadstate.His

musicfromthenextdecadewasnotverypopular,andheeventuallyfellbackonhis

teachingjobsforaliving.In1788hestoppedperforminginpublic,preferringto

compose.Hediedin1791attheageof35.Althoughhelivedonlyashortlife,he

composedover600works.
