1.TheHemingwaycodeheroesandgraceunderpressure:
Theyhaveseenthecoldworld,andforonecause,theyboldlyandcourageouslyfacethereality.Theyhasanindestructiblespiritforhisoptimisticviewoflife.Whateveristheresultis,thearereadytolivewithgraceunderpressure.Nomatterhowtragictheendingis,theywillneverbedefeated.Finally,theywillbeprevailbecauseoftheirindestructiblespiritandcourage.2.Theicebergtechnique:
Hemingwaybelievethatagoodwriterdoesnotneedtorevealeverydetailofacharacteroraction.Theone-eighththeispresentedwillsuggestallothermeaningfuldimensionsofthestory.Thus,Hemingway’ily:
Emilyisasymbolofoldvalues,standingfortradition,ily’sstrangenessisfromherbornprideandself-esteem,thedomineeringbehaviorofherfatherandthebetrayalofherlover.Barricadedinherhouse,shehasfrozenthepasttoprotectherdreams.Herlifeistragicbecausethedefianceofthecommunity,herrefusaltoacceptthechangeandhere某tremepridehavepushedhertoabnormalityandinsanity.
