基数词的基本构成如下：1-12为基数词中的基本数词。1(one),2(two),3(three),4(four),5(five),6(six),7(seven),8(eight),9(nine),10(ten),11(eleven),12(twelve)13-19的基数词在数词3-9后加-teen构成。其中13（thirteen），15（fifteen），18（eighteen）发生拼写变化。

20-99之间的整十位数，在基数词2-9之后加后缀-ty构成。其中20（twenty）30（thirty）40(forty)、50(fifty)、80(eighty)拼写发生变化。个位数不为零的十位数，由十位数加个位数构成，中间用连字符号“-”。如：21twenty-two.整百位数由基数词1-9加hundred构成。百位数中若十位数不为零，百位数与十位数之间用and连接，也可以省略；但百位数后直接加个位数时，and一般不能省略。

整千位数由基数词1-9thousand构成。千位数带百，十，个位数构成。英语中没有“万”这个单位。一万以上至百万以下的数字都用“千”作单位表示。如：10,000（tenthousand），

1100-1900之间的整数也可以用百（hundred）为单位表示。

构成。注意fifth（第五）

twelfth（第十二）的特殊拼写。20-99之间的整十位数在构成序数词时，将相应基数词词尾-y变成-i，再加-eth。如：twentieth（第20）等。其余个位数不为零的个位数在构成序数词时，十位数用基数词表示，个位数用序数词表示。如：twenty-first（第21）

整百位数构成序数词时，在hundred后面加上-th。如：（a/one）hundredth(第100)，twohundredth（第200）。百位数含十位数和个位数构成序数词时，只需将最后一个数变成序数词。如：（one）hundred（and）fifty-eighth（第158）千至百万的数构成序数词时，同样是将最后一个词变成序数词。如：（one）thousandtwohundred（and）forty-second（第1242）。一、二、三，特殊记，加th从4起，八少“t”，九去“e”，“ve”要用“f”替，(five,twelve)见“y”变成“i”和“e”，词尾加上“th”，(twenty,thirty,ninety)若是遇到几十几，只变个位就可以。
