The number of foreign players, including Chinese players, in the NBA has increased. 1) “the number of +可数名词复数”表示 “的数量”。该短语作主语时,谓语动词用单数。如: The number of students in our class is 50. 我们班学生的数量是50人。 2) a number of “若干的, 一些, 许多”, 修饰可数名词。作主语时, 谓语动词应用复数形式

17、。如果强调数量大, 还可在number前用 large, great, good等词修饰,以表示程度。如: A number of people are unhappy with this decision. 一些人对这项决定并不满意。 【运用】根据汉语意思完成英语句子,每空词数不限。(1) 许多孩子正在花园里玩。_ playing in the garden.(2) 花园里孩子的数量是六个。_ children in the garden _ six.6.
