WORK PERFORMED BY THIS
2、SECTIONOnly experienced Fire Protection Sub-contractors, as determined by Consultant, will be considered for this work. Sub-contractors must be able to show evidence of having performed work of similar type and size.Supply all materials, labour, plant, tools, equipment, sealed working drawings, and
3、services necessary and reasonably incidental to provide a complete fire protection system as described herein and shown on the drawings including, but not limited to the following:All piping including external fire department pumper connections, yard fire hydrants, post indicator valves and equipmen
4、t. All fire hose and standpipe systems.Wet Pipe Sprinkler System.Dry Pipe Sprinkler System.Pre-action Sprinkler System (required for all Libraries and Voice/Data rooms).Fire PumpsAnti-Freeze Sprinkler System.Standpipe System.Wet Window Sprinkler System.Deluge Sprinkler System.All fire extinguishers,
5、 cabinets and brackets.Temporary standpipe during construction as required by Authorities.Preparation of shop drawings, approval by authorities having jurisdiction, inspection, testing and approval as specified herein and as required by authorities having jurisdiction.CERTIFICATESProvide written cer
6、tificate that components are compatible, and where applicable, certified for intended use by nationally recognized testing agency.COMMISSIONINGRefer to Section 01810 Quality Commissioning for the details of the commissioning process.CONTRACTOR QUALIFICATIONSQualifications: Execute work of this Secti
7、on only by skilled tradesmen employed by a qualified Fire Protection Contractor licensed in the province of Manitoba regularly engaged in the installation of automatic sprinkler systems and other fire protection equipment and who is a member in good standing of the Canadian Automatic Sprinkler Assoc
8、iation.Arrange and pay for all inspections, examinations and tests required by all Authorities specified previously. Provide certificates, where given, to the Consultant.The following Contractors are pre-approved for Section 15500 scope of work:BDR ServicesSimplex GrinnellVipond Fire ProtectionAny o
9、ther Contractor wishing to bid must be pre-qualified at the time of tender being released. DELINEATION OF WORKDue to the sprinkler system Subtrade being a specialist installer, delineation of work for this Subtrade, as it interfaces with other Division 15 Subtrades, (in connection with water supplie
10、s, mains and valving), is described on the drawings in Section 15400. MAINTENANCE DATAAttach tag or label to extinguishers, indicating month and year of installation. Provide space for service dates.Refer to Section 01810 for additional documentation details and requirements.MAINTENANCE MATERIALSPro
11、vide lockable metal cabinet containing spare sprinklers of each type and melting point temperature to NFPA 13 requirements. Install cabinet where indicated. Include sprinkler wrenches and 2 keys, for emergency repair work.Refer to Section 01810 for additional documentation details and requirements.Q
12、UALITY ASSURANCEThis installation shall conform to the latest edition at the time of bid of each of the following Codes and Standards:.1Federal, provincial, municipal building and fire regulations as approved by:Provincial Fire Marshal.Factory Mutual System approval guide.FCC 401 Fire Extinguishers,
13、 FCC 402 Standpipe and Hose Systems, FCC 403 Sprinkler Systems, FCC 410 Fire Alarm Systems.National NFPA 13, all appendices, Installation of Sprinkler Systems.NFPA Automatic Sprinkler System Handbook.NFPA 14, all appendices, Standpipe and Hose Systems.Underwriters Laboratories Fire Protection Equipm
14、ent Directory.Factory Mutual Approval Guide.NFPA 20 Fire PumpsSPRINKLER SYSTEM DESIGN CRITERIAFire Protection Contractor to review existing conditions and all Code requirements prior to submitting tender price. Upgrades to address deficiencies in existing systems and code required upgrades are to be
15、 included in tender price. Fire Protection Contractor to review coverage and provide all piping, material, devices, and system as required by Code and Authorities having jurisdiction.Design density to be based on area of sprinkler operation according to latest requirements of NFPA and to FCC require
16、ments.Modify and/or upgrade all existing system components as required to meet latest Code requirements.No extra costs to tender price will be allowed to achieve NFPA requirements of this project.SHOP DRAWINGSSubmit shop drawings in accordance with authorities having jurisdiction for approval before
17、 commencing work.Shop drawings shall clearly indicate:Name of Department of Agency.Location, including street address.Point of compass.Ceiling construction.Full height cross section.Location of fire separations.Occupancy of each area or room.Location and size of blind spaces and closets.Any question
18、able small enclosures in which no sprinklers are to be installed.Size of city main in street, pressure and whether dead-end or circulating and if dead end, direction and distance to nearest circulating main, with city main test results.Other sources of water supply, with pressure or elevation.Make,
19、type and orifice size of sprinklers.Temperature rating and location of high temperature sprinklers.Number of sprinklers on each riser and on each zone by floors, and total area protected by each zone on each floor.Number of sprinklers on each riser and total per floor.Make, type, model and size of a
20、larm.Kind and location of alarm bells. Cutting lengths of pipe or centre-to-centre dimensions.Crosses, riser nipples and size.Type of hangers, inserts and sleeves.All control valves, checks, drain pipes and test pipes.Small hand hose and hose equipment.Provision for flushing.Name and address of Cont
21、ractor.3Over and above that called for above, show the following for hydraulically designed systems:Hydraulic reference points to be designated by letter or number and to correspond to the comparable reference points shown in the hydraulic calculation sheets.Description of sprinklers used.System des
22、ign criteria: minimum rate of water application and water application for both inside and outside hose streams.Actual calculated requirements: total quantity of water and pressure required at a common reference point for each system.Elevation data including relative elevation of sprinkler junction p
23、oints and supply of reference points.4Submit calculations of hydraulically designed systems on form sheets, including summary sheet, detailed work sheets and graph sheet.5On summary sheet, clearly indicate:Date.Location.Name of Department or Agency.Building number or other identification.Description
24、 of hazard.Name address of contractor or designer.Name of approving agency.System design requirements, including design area of water application, minimum rate of water application density and area per sprinkler.Total water requirements as calculated including allowance for inside hose and outside h
25、ydrants. Water supply information.6On detailed work sheets or computer printout sheets, clearly indicate:Sheet number.Sprinkler description and discharge constant K.Hydraulic reference points.Flow in l/s.Pipe size.Pipe lengths, centre to centre of fittings.Equivalent pipe lengths for fitting and dev
26、ices.Friction loss in kPa/m of pipe.Total friction loss between reference points.Elevation head in kPa between reference points.Required pressure in kPa at each reference point.Velocity pressure and normal pressure if included in calculations.Notes to indicate starting points, reference to other she
27、ets or to clarify data shown.7Graph paper of semi-logarithmic type to contain water supply curves and systems requirements plus inside and outside hose requirements so to present a graphic summary of complete hydraulic calculation.8Include fire hose system cabinets, valves, racks, hose, wrench and a
28、ll extinguishers including wall brackets.SUBMITTALSSubmit shop drawings on pumps, hose cabinets, fire extinguishers, fire department pumper connections, compressors and other major items.Submittals shall be approved by the Consultant and the University of Manitoba prior to fabrication and installati
29、on of the system.Before commencing Sprinkler System installation prepare and submit for acceptance, a complete design, hydraulic calculations and working plans to the Authorities and Consultant. All work with other trades, especially work by other Sections of this Division and Division 16 must be co
30、-ordinated. Extra compensation to remedy interference problems with the Work of Division 15 and 16 Subtrades will not be considered.Submit samples of sprinkler heads and guards.5Refer to Section 01810 for additional documentation details and requirements.PART 2 - PRODUCTSAIR COMPRESSOR / AIR MAINTEN
31、ANCE DEVICEProvide an air compressor or maintenance device, sized to completely refill the system within 30 minutes. Compressor: Reliable Model A or approved equal. Air maintenance device: Viking Model D-2 or approved equal.Set the dry pipe system air pressure at the maximum recommended by the infor
32、mation sheet for the dry pipe valve or at 20 psi greater than the standard calculated trip pressure. The PS-40-2 switch setting shall be as follows: The high setting will be the high calculated value plus 10 psi; the low setting will be the low calculated value minus 10 psi. For compressors, the sta
33、rt point shall be set at 5 psi below the lowest calculated point. ANGLE VALVESNPS 1 cast or forged brass valve with hand wheel, brass cap and chain.Angle Valve: Bronze NRS gate valve, 64mm (2), rate for 1380 kPa (200 psi) operating pressure, c/w 64mm x 38mm (2 x 1) reducer, brass cap and chain. Nati
34、onal Fig. A56Angle pattern hose valve: Provide valve with open or drip connections or hydrolator valve so installed that leakage past valve seat will not enter hose.Where water pressure exceeds 690 kPa provide restricting disc orifice restriction to prevent water pressures in excess of 620 kPa from
35、entering hose.ANTIFREEZE SYSTEMSProvide propylene glycol based antifreeze system where shown on drawings to NFPA 13-2010 standards.Provide glycol fill station where shown on drawings. Approved indicating valve c/w position monitor switch, which shall be wired to fire alarm system by Div. 16. Provide
36、 glycol fill cap, two solution test valves, RP backflow and expansion tank, system drain valves, etc. All as shown in NFPA 13 2010 Figure . All components shall be rated for 1210 kPa (175 psig) working pressure.Piping and valves in glycol U-loop shall be securely supported on wall.BACKFLOW PR
37、EVENTION.1Where standpipe and/or sprinkler systems are connected to a potable water supply, provide the following:.1A double check valve assembly to CSA B64.5 where no water treatment, antifreeze or other chemicals are used in the standpipe or sprinkler systems.2A reduced pressure principle back flo
38、w preventer to CSA B64.4-M where chemicals, water treatment, or antifreeze are used in the standpipe or sprinkler systems.BALL VALVES.1Up to and including 50mm (2) - Ductile iron body, stainless steel ball and stem, TPE seats. Manual gear operator with position indicator. Valve rated for 2.1 mPa (30
39、0 psi) operating pressure and complete with supervisory switch. BOOSTER PUMP TEST CONNECTIONS.1Provide in quantities and in locations as shown on the drawings National Fire Equipment Model 230 flush mounted chrome plated wall hydrants with escutcheons and stainless steel screws.2Other acceptable man
40、ufacturers: CFH, Stelpro, Wilson and Cousins.BUTTERFLY VALVES.1Valves NPS 2 and under: bronze to ASTM B61-80 for both horizontal and vertical mounting Iron body lug style valve with chrome plated disc and replaceable EPDM seat. Manual gear operator with valve position indicator. Valve rated for 1,21
41、0 kPa (175 psig) operating pressure. ITT, Grinnell L829 ULC listed ball valves.CHECK VALVES.1Valves NPS 2 and under: .1bronze to ASTM B61-80 for both horizontal and vertical mounting with replaceable composition disc, screwed cap and ends.2Valves NPS 2 and over: .1Underwriters Laboratories pattern,
42、iron body, bronze mounted, regrind-renew bronze disc and seat ring, and flanged or grooved ends. Design for either horizontal or vertical mounting.3Check valves: .1Check valves shall be grooved, iron body, bronze seat, stainless steel clapper with a replaceable rubber seal (a rubber seal integral wi
43、th the seat is not acceptable), and 175 psi non-shock cold water working pressure. Use Viking Model D, or approved equal.4Double check valve assembly: .1Provide a double check valve assembly including the two OS&Y gate valvesDELUGE SPRINKLER SYSTEMProvide open head deluge sprinkler system including
44、following items:Signage at wet valve if supplying deluge system.Reliable deluge valve complete with all necessary trim for approved installation.Approved OS & Y or butterfly main control valve.Approved check valve.Deluge system release valve, pilot operated diaphragm solenoid valve, power characteri
45、stics as required by electrical.Tampered isolation valve above deluge valve for trip testing.Fire Alarm Panel supplied by Div. 16 shall contain primary power supply, release control, pilot lights and auxiliary contacts as required for operation of the deluge sprinkler system. Provide normally open a
46、nd normally closed contacts for fire alarm system a required by Division 16.Provide complete operating and maintenance instructions for every sprinkler main control valve assembly. Mount in frame c/w Plexiglas and mechanically fasten onto wall adjacent to valve assembly at approximately 1.5 m above
47、floor.DRAIN VALVES.1Drain valves to be ULC Listed, screw-in bonnet bronze globe valves, rated to 175 psi non-shock cold water working pressure by Nibco, United or approved equal. Low point drain valves shall have, in addition, a -inch brass nipple with -inch male hose threads and cap. DRY PIPE ALARM
48、 VALVE.1Provide a dry pipe alarm valve, trim package, accelerator and air maintenance device, all by the same manufacturer. EXCESS PRESSURE (JOCKEY) PUMP.1Albany Model CEP67, or acceptable alternative, bronze close-coupled rotary gear type complete with 1/3 HP motor, flexible hose connections, disch
49、arge check valve, suction strainer, mounting bracket, PRV set at 1085 kPa (125 psig) and pressure switch rated for pump operation with range 70 to 860 kPa (10 to 125 psi).FINISHESChrome plate valves, nozzles, fittings, hose rack, and spannerFIRE DEPARTMENT CONNECTIONSProvide fire department pumper c
50、onnection to supply sprinkler system, stand pipe system, and/or sprinkler & standpipe system as indicated.Provide flush-type bronze fire department pumper connection with 4” 2 lug, hard-coated aluminum, storz connection angled at 30 downward.The storz connection shall be complete with a lock on the
51、inlet and shall conform to the National Standard Thread. The hose sealing surface shall be machined and protected against long-term exposure to the environment.A semi-permanent ” mesh screen, constructed of corrosion-resistant metal shall be installed in the storz adaptor. The protective screen must
52、 be capable of withstanding high water flows without leaks and be resistant to tampering. The assembly shall have a 4” cap with a chain or cable to secure it.A brass identification plate specifying “Auto Sprinkler”, “Standpipe”. Or “Auto Sprinkler & Standpipe” shall be mounted on the wall at the fir
53、e department connection.The fire department connection shall be installed between 30” and 48” above grade.The fire department connection shall be ULC listed and approved.Provide straightway check valve and automatic drip piped to the nearest floor drain.FIRE HOSE CABINETS.1National Fire Equipment Lt
54、d. consisting of a 16 gauge steel factory prime coated tub with trim and door of 12 gauge steel and 5mm (3/16) clear float glass front, complete with 30 m Polyflex single jacket hose, water stop, pin rack, chrome plated forged brass couplings attached, 40mm (1) A156 pressure restricting chrome plate
55、d forged brass valve with hydrolater, 65mm (2) A156 pressure restricting chrome plated brass angle hose valve with cap and chain, 40mm (1) chrome plated brass plated Lexan straight stream fog nozzles and 11.37 1 (3 US gal.) copper chrome plated pressurized, filled and tested water extinguisher with
56、ULC listing 2A multi purpose, ammonium phosphate type tested and charged extinguisher with ULC listing 2A10BC, 2.3 kg (5 lbs) capacity and one spanner. Provide 6mm () Lexan fronts on doors, brass valves and couplings and unplated nozzles in parking garage areas. .2Cabinets to be surface mounted or r

Construct and hinge door to prevent sway or sag when opened.4Provide back of flush or semi-recessed cabinets with fire resistanc

59、IRE EXTINGUISHERS AND CABINETSProvide multi-purpose dry chemical extinguishers: stored pressure type with hose and shut-off nozzle ULC labelled for A, B, and C fires with wall brackets or for in-cabinet installations.Provide 4.5 Kg (10#) 4A:60B: C Flag or Williams extinguishers as a minimum size in
60、all applications except computer rooms.In computer rooms provide 2.25 Kg (5#) Flag or Amerex CO2 fire extinguishers.Provide wall brackets and cabinets as indicated on drawings.Fully recessed fire extinguisher cabinets to be equal to National Fire Equipment Limited Model 950-3 with 5mm (3/16) clear f
