Nursing has been called the oldest art and the youngest profession. When looking at the historical development of nursing, most nurse historian

However, modern nursing has only been developed since Florence Nightingale established professional nursing in the 19th century. The original desire of nursing was to keep people healthy an
10、d to provide comfort, care, and assurance to the sick. Although these general goals of nursing have remained relatively stable over the centuries, the practice of nursing has been significantly influenced by the advance of science and changing needs of the society. the first purpose of nursing 2. The educational levels include secondary professional nursing education (intend to training personnel to perform basic nursing skills in the hospitals), associate degree education in nur
12、sing (intended to training personnel for the work of clinical nursing, supervision, and teaching for the students in the clinical practice and nursing management), baccalaureate education in nursing (intended to training personnel to carry out nursing instruction in the nursing school or colleges, m
13、anagement and direct client care in hospitals), master degree education in nursing (preparing personnel for clinical nursing, nursing management, nursing research, and nursing education), and doctoral degree education (preparing personnel to act as nursing educators and nursing researchers). As nursing continued to evolve, nurses were deeply involved in identifying the defi

As a result, a number of theoretical nursing models have been developed to reflect a broad range of viewpoints about the relationships between man, health, environment, and nursing. 18、e theories and models are evolving conceptual bases for nursing practice that are separated and distinct from medical practices and that place nurses in collaborative and independent position within the health care system. Detailed Explanation of Nursing Theories as Follows:(1) Florence Nightingales
19、 Environmental Adaptation She believed that nursing is a profession about Environmental Manipulation, Nutrition, and Conservation of Patient Energy. Environment is the core concept in Nightingales model of nursing. (2) Peplaus Theory of International Relations Psychodynamic nursing, to describe the
20、dynamic relationship between a nurse and a patient; The core is the use of a therapeutic relationship between the nurse and the patient and development of the patients competencies. Four phases: orientation (定位阶段) identification (确认阶段) exploitation (利用阶段) resolution (解决阶段) (3) Rogers Theory of Unita
21、ry Human BeingsShe regards nursing as a humanistic science dedicated to concern with maintaining and promoting health, preventing illness, and caring for and rehabilitating the sick and disabled. She thinks that the unitary man is a united whole manifesting characteristics more than and different fr
22、om the sum of his parts. (4) Orems Self-care Theory Orem believes that the individual has a need for self-care actions and that goals of nursing are to help the client care for himself.The theory centers on the individual with deficits in self-care due to illness, injury, or disease. Orems theory is
23、 made up of the three interrelated theories: self-care, self-care deficit, and nursing systems. (5) Roys Adaptation TheoryRoys theory focuses on the person asa a bio-psycho-social adaptive system and describes nursing as a humanistic discipline that places emphasis on the persons own coping abilities. The goal of nursing is
