8、onent by a large margin in November 1946.He served as a congressman for six years.U.S. SENATE (19531960)In the 1952 U.S. Senate election, Kennedy defeated incumbent Republican Henry Cabot Lodge II for the U.S. Senate seat. The following year, he married Jacqueline Bouvier.In 1958, Kennedy was re-ele

9、cted to a second term in the Senate, defeating his Republican opponent, Boston lawyer Vincent J.
