In the mid-19th century, the southern part of the United States is plantation slavery, the northern part is bourgeois employer labor system, the contr

6、adictions between these two kinds of systems caused the political and economic oppositions, and concentrated on the issue about supporting and againest the slavery system, and this caused the civil war. The novel satirizes the foolish religion and condemned the sin of slavery by describing white kid

7、s with a fugitive slave lived in a vagabonds life in the mississippi river, and propagandizes the idea that everyone enjoys the rights of freedom regardless of race.Being generally regarded as a boys story, the book is all about Tom and his gang. While spending a summer with Aunt Polly in a drowsy M

8、ississippi River town, Tom and his buddies Huck and Joe take a series of adventure there. They witness a horrible murder committed by Injun Joe. Finally, Tom returns to school and become a hero at the trial of Muff Potter when he reveals Injun Joes guilt. When Injun dies, his treasure is divided bet

9、ween Tom and Huck, who is now adopted by Widow Douglas. Twain had made Tom the hero of American boyhood, and the book had become the classic read in schools. By telling this story, Twain fulfils his and other adults dreams of ideal boyhood. All the cruelties and fears, wonders and joys of childhood

10、are brought into vividness. The novels main character Tom is a mischievous boy with a great imagination who spends most of the time getting him in trouble. Tom has a kind heart and respects other peoples feelings. He becomes more and more mature as the story progresses.Huck is Toms best friend and f
