16、f what happened in the morning.他躺在床上,想着早上发生的事情。【联想】现在分词作状语的用法:(1)表伴随,这也是现在分词作状语最突出的用法。(2)表时间、方式等。While reading the book, he nodded from time to time.看书的时候他时不时地点点头。(表时间)The two girls stood there, facing each other as if they had been strangers.那两个女孩站在那里,彼此注视着对方,仿佛素不相识。(表方式)(3)表原因,常置句首。Being so ill, s

21、ides, but, apart from, beyondA.except for“除以外”,表示排除异类或细微之处。The meal was excellent except for the first course.B.besides“除以外(还有)”,表示包含在内。 We also know the result besides him. (他也知道结果。)Besides this chair, we need another ten.(这把椅子也需要。)C.but表示“除以外”,可与except互换。I know nothing about him but the name.。We h
22、ave no choice but to wait. D.apart from“除以外”,常用于句首,根据句意,既可表示排除也可表示包含在内。Apart from his nose, he is quite good looking. E.beyond“除以外”,仅用于否定句中。He got nothing beyond his state pension.3.“It is,” he said quietly, as if remembering something he had tried to forget.as if remembering.是状语从句的省略,完整的从句是as if he
23、 was remembering something he had tried to forget。 类似的句子课文还有:Vingo stopped looking, tightening his face, as if fortifying himself against still another disappointment.状语从句的省略通常有以下两种情况:(1)当主从句的主语一致,且从句谓语含有be动词时,可以略去从句的“主语 + be”。When in Rome, do as Romans do.(=When you are in Rome.)入乡随俗。(2)当状语从句的主语是充当
24、形式主语的it,其逻辑主语与主句的主语一致且谓语也是be时,也可省去 “it + be”。The main coach will have a talk with the football fans if possible.(=if it is possible)如果可能,主教练会和足球球迷们会面。If necessary, you can come to me for help.(=If it is necessary.)如果必要的话,你可以找我帮忙。as if =as though“似乎,好像似乎,好像”,后接方式状语从句,根据具体情,后接方式状语从句,根据具体情况可以表示实际的也可以表示
25、虚拟的。况可以表示实际的也可以表示虚拟的。She loves the students as if they were her own children.(虚拟语气)她热爱学生就好像他们是她自己的孩子。He always talks to me as if he were my father.(虚拟语气)他跟我说话的态度就好像是我的父亲一样。4.“Want some wine?” she said.Want some wine?是一个省略句。完整的句子是Do you want some wine?口语中常用省略句使语言显得更简练,交际更流畅。本课类似的句子: I told her she di
26、dnt have to write to me.And she didnt.Not for three and a half years. And youre going home now, not knowing? If she didnt want me, forget itno handkerchief, and Id go on through. All except Vingo.5.The girl insisted that he join them. 那女孩坚持要他加入他们。那女孩坚持要他加入他们。 insist“坚持,坚持要”。主要用法如下:(1)insist vi.I wil

28、sfactory answer to him.The teacher insisted on all the homework being handed in on Monday.(3)insist+从句从句A. 表示“坚持要求”,从句用虚拟语气(should+动词原形,should常可省略)。此时多指从句的动作尚未发生。 Our English teacher insists that we should speak English in and out of class. 英语老师坚持要求我们在课堂内外都讲英语。B. 表示“坚持说,坚持认为,坚信”,从句用陈述语气。此时多指从句的动作已经发
29、生。He insisted that he heard someone in the next room.他坚持说他听到隔壁屋里有人。6.I told her that I was going to be away for a long time, and that if she couldnt stand it, if the kids kept asking questions, if it hurt her too much, well, she could just forget me.此句很长,分析其结构发现told后面接了两个宾语从句,分别由两个that引导。在第二个宾语从句中又包
30、含了三个if引导的条件状语从句。【注意】当that引导的宾语从句不止一个时,只有第一个从句可以省略that。He told me I was right and that I would get a prize.他告诉我我是对的,我还将得到奖励。7.Get a new guy, I saidshes a wonderful woman, really somethingand forget about me. something除了表示“某事物”以外,还可表示“有意义的或不错的人/物”。 She really means something to me. 她对于我而言很有意义。【联想】noth
31、ing, everything, nobody, somebody也有类似的意义。(1)nothing(对某人而言)无所谓的人/无关紧要的人Whats she to you?她在你心目中如何?Shes nothing to me.她对我来说无所谓。(2)everything最重要的人事物Money isnt everything to me. 对我而言,金钱并不是最重要的。(3)nobody不重要的人,小人物He was just a nobody before he met her.在认识她之前,他只是个小人物。(4)somebody重要人物He thinks hes really some
32、body.他自以为很了不起。8.She told the others and soon all of them were in it, caught up in the approach of Brunswick, looking at the pictures Vingo showed them of his wife and three childrenthe woman attractive in a plain way, the children still unformed in the much handled snapshots.1)该句的主句内容是She told the o
33、thers and soon all of them were in it。2)逗号后面有过去分词短语caught up in the approach of Brunswick和现在分词短语looking at the pictures.作状语表伴随状态。3)现在分词短语中的the pictures还带有定语从句Vingo showed them of his wife and three children加以限制,定语从句内容理解为:Vingo showed them the pictures of his wife and three children。4) attractive in
34、a plain way是形容词短语作后置定语修饰the woman; the children则被另一个分词形容词unformed所修饰。9.Vingo stopped looking, tightening his face, as if fortifying himself against still another disappointment. 1)句中tightening his face为现在分词短语用作伴随状语; as if fortifying himself against still another disappointment为as if引导的方式状语从句。2)disap
