It is very important to use all of the information that you already have about a topic when you listen to English. This will help you pr

35、epare for what you may hear. For example, if you know that you will visit your school counselor on the first day of school, you should first think about the kinds of things you will probably discuss. 2. Understanding the meaning of what you hear is more important than knowing all of the vocabulary w

36、ords that you hear. Sometimes you will hear words that you dont know, but you can still figure out the meaning because you know what the speakers are talking about. The words and even the sentences around the new words help you understand the meaning. 3. Intonation means the music of the speakers vo

37、ice. Its the way the speaker changes his or her voice to show special meaning. Intonation can change meaning by making words and sentences longer or shorter, louder or softer, higher or lower, and so on. Sometimes, intonation can show how the speaker feels about a person or situation (his or her emo
