3、ame steps as in Lesson 68,Steps 2-3,in the TB。Use flashcards rather than going straightto the book。Note: Whenpronouncing the words fourteen andforty it is important to make sure the students pronounce the /n/ atthe end of fourteen and the /i/ at the end of forty。Also,for manyEnglish speakers,especia

4、lly Americans,the /t/ in forty is pronounced as a /d/ suchas /fordi/。This is the same forall the numbers ending with -ty except forthe number twenty。Step 3 PracticePractise the differencebetween -teen and -ty。Write two columns on the Bb as follows:I n13 3014 4015 5016 6017 7018 8019 90Say a number (

5、e。g。16)。The students should hold up one finger (because 16 is incolumn one)。Repeat with other numbers,then get the studentsto work in pairs。Step 4 Sentence stressSB Page 14,Part 2,Speech Cassette Lesson 76。Books closed。Tell the students to listen for the stresses。Playthe tape。Then play it again and

11、aurant。Step 8 Read and writeNote: Skimming isa reading strategy that you use to read over something quickly toget the main idea about what thepassage,story or book is about。When skimming ashort passage,the students should only read thefirst couple of sentences,a sentence in the middlethe sentence,th

12、ey dont need to read all justthe words that carry the meaning 76,Part 6 *。This first step isa silent readingactivity,that will help your students with the reading。strategyof skimming。Have the studentsuse this passage to practise skimming。Firstexplain skimming in Chinese。Tell the students that skimmi

13、ng willhelp them to read faster。When they read,they are to only lookfor the main idea,and are not to read every word。Theyshould skip over“little”words such as a,and,the,etc。because thesewords do not carry the main idea of the text。Say Lets skim thispassage。Start to read when I say“Go。”St op reading

14、whenI say“Stop。 ”OK,go。Give the students one minute toskim。Ask What is the passage about? (Mike,andof the passage and the lastsentence。When readingthe words,。1 SB Lessonlong as the students get the main idea,the answeris OK。)2 In pairs,have the students fill out the form。Walkaround the room and give

17、veral pairs to give their dialogue for the class。Exx。7 and 8 are optional。Step 11 TestWrite the following dialogue onthe board。Have the students copy it down and fill in the blankswhat he eats in China- Answers may varybut aswith an appropriate answer。Instruct them that they may not usethe same answ

20、m magazines。Make 5 or 6 copies of the material。Divide thestudents into small groups of 5-6 students and give each studentin each group the same material。Tell them that they will practiseskimming。Review howto skim (see note in lesson 76,Step 8)。Then give the classone or two minutes to skim the material (time may vary accordingto the length of the article)。Then have each group discuss whattheyskimmed。Students will probably have slightly different ideasconcerning what the material is about。However,by doing thisexercise in a group,the whole group should be able to come upwith the main idea。
