10、s-students relationship (tsr for short). it is the trend of quality-oriented environment between teachers and students, which will have positive effects on the study of english for many students. teachers should try their best to help students get rid of psychological barriers and build comfortable
11、and stress-free atmosphere to help students explore their potentials. effective interaction between teaching and learning, tacit coordination and happy cooperation between teachers and students can bring about good teaching results. human feelings are a kind of psychological phenomenon, which accomp
12、anies the process of cognition. it is a significant factor that cannot be omitted in the process of english teaching and learning.a. traditional viewpoint about tsr in chinatraditional english teaching is based on book knowledge, in which students are compelled to perform in obedience to their teach
13、ers during the classes. teachers are the center in traditional english classrooms which has many shortcomings. it is believed that teachers are the initiators, the leaders and the key persons in the students heart. for a long time, students were tied to the traditional ideology that once your teache
14、r teaches you, he or she will be your teacher forever. under this ideology teachers were strict with students and students had to show complete obedience to teachers. worshiping teachers is originally undisputable, but often causes teachers to be in the upper position and students to be in the lower
15、 position. there is a lack of equal communication between teachers and students. during the process of teaching, it emphasizes the teachers role rather than that of students, language instruction rather than non-intelligence factors of students. as a result, teaching activities became the stage for
16、teachers to perform according to their will, while students played the minor or passive role.b. problems of the current tsr1. ethical relation1.1 infringing upon students rightsstudents are independent persons who have their own rights. but, teachers often infringe, though unintentionally, upon thei
17、r rights and freedom of accepting education during the teaching process. for instance, the whole class is asked to stay in the classroom by a teacher after school, for one student throws a piece of paper to the teacher who is writing on the blackboard; some students who unmindfully talk in the class
18、 are forced to go to the guidance room to accept criticism from the school leaders; some students who doze off are forced to stand in the last row to attend a class. at present, these phenomena are not unusual, but everyday occur. 1.2 doing what is supposed to be done by studentsteachers always prep
19、are everything for students, which are usually regarded as good teachers quality, but in fact they deprive of students independence of their chances to fulfill their own duty. for example, teachers write down whatever they think important and useful on the blackboard while students passively copy an

23、out the teachers, lack of communication between teachers and students strengthens the contradictory and deepens their misunderstandings. what is worse, sometimes teachers and students have direct language and behavior attack for they have different ideas, different emotions and different psychologie

31、reat students as lifeless bottles thirsting for knowledge; instead teachers and students should build lively interaction. 1 that is, teachers not only teach their students what they are learning, but also teaches them how to do and how to improve themselves. democratic and harmonious tsr can be of g

34、oncept of harmonious society inevitably confronts us with humans harmonious development. but human being, which is the most basic factor for the harmonious society construction, should have harmonious personality, thought and interpersonal relationship which are the theme of the harmonious society c

42、l relationship in the teaching process. the harmonious tsr is a coordinated, balanced and cooperative condition between teachers and students in the teaching process and the teaching environment. thus, it improves the quality of teaching, and enables students to obtain harmonious and comprehensive d
43、evelopment. functions of harmonious tsr in english teaching the 8th national new curriculum reform (1999) has pushed the emotional and cognitive factors to a more important position. among the emotional and cognitive factors, the harmonious tsr is the pivotal one in that english teaching is cooperat
44、ion between teachers and students, which requires active attendances from both sides. they exchange not only in knowledge about english but also in affection. the harmonious tsr plays a very important role in motivating students interest and enthusiasm in learning english. in english classroom, teac
45、hers and students are the major factors in the teaching process, precisely because english teaching process consists of english teachers teaching and students learning. modern teaching methods specially emphasize the relationship between teachers and students. harmonious interpersonal relationship i
