Experime nts were con ducted as early as 1935 in an attempt to simplify the tran siti on from in strume nt to visual flight duri ng an approach. These experime nts led to the con struct ion of a nu mber of differe nt types of approa

24、ch lights systems. Approach lights are placed along the exte nded cen terl ine of the run way and usually exte nd from the run way threshold out to a point where the pilot might make the tran siti on from in strume nt to visual flying. Approach light systems are desig ned to provide the pilot with v
