24、 the Metropolitan in the afternoon. The Metropolitan stays open until 8:45 pm on Fridays. So if youve had enough by dinner time, Susan, you can go back to the hotel. John and I can stay at the museum till it closes. J: Sounds good to me. S: Its certainly a better arrangement. Part 2 G: Perhaps we co

25、uld go to the Museum of Modern Art on Saturday. S: Oh no. Its too big and crowded. And its expensive. J: Susan, would you rather do something else on our second day? S: No, no. Id like to see some art but not too much and not too modern. G: Whats the problem? S: Im not fond of modern art. A monkey c

26、ould paint better pictures than some of those paintings. If it was up to me, Id get rid of all of them. J: Really? I dont understand why you dislike modern art so much. But you know that modern art began with the Impressionist, right? S: I dont know anything about the impressionists. G: Its just she

27、 doesnt know enough about it, John. Lets go to the Guggenheim. Theyve wonderful Impressionist paintings there. J: I agree, but we shouldnt miss the Whitney Museum of American Art. Would you mind, Susan, if we went there too? S: Not if we dont stay too long. J: Do you think weve time to go to the Whi

28、tney first and then the Guggenheim? Theyre quite close together. G: Lets try. Is that OK with you, Susan? SUSAN: Yes, I suppose so! (grudgingly).
