3、decidednottokeepit.in1716hegaveittopeterthegreat.inreturn,theczarsenthimatroopofhisbestsoldiers.sotheamberroombecausepartoftheczarswinterpalaceinstpetersburg.aboutfourmetreslong,theroomservedasasmallreceptionhallforimportantvisitors.later,catherinehadtheamberroommovedtoapalaceoutsidestpetersburgwher
4、eshespenthersummers.shetoldherartiststoaddmoredetailstoit.in1770theroomwascompletedthewayshewanted.almostsixhundredcandleslittheroom,anditsmirrorsandpicturesshonelikegold.sadly,althoughtheamberroomwasconsideredoneofthewondersoftheworld,itisnowmissing.inseptember1941,thenaziarmywasnearstpetersburg.th
5、iswasatimewhenthetwocountrieswereatwar.beforethenaziscouldgettothesummerpalace,therussianswereabletoremovesomefurnitureandsmallartobjectsfromtheamberroom.however,someofthenazissecretlystoletheroomitself.inlessthantwodays100,000pieceswereputinsidetwenty-sevenwooodenboxs.thereisnodoubtthattheboxsweret
