But what should we do to find it in a long passage?Look at the following advice for you.1. Read the questions carefully before you begin, this will give you a good idea of the information you are looking for.2. Read the passage, looking for main points and key words. Main points are the general idea of the passage. You can highlight main points by underlining the key words convey important or useful information. You should circle keywords as you read.T: Read the letter on Page 45. Underline the main ideas and circle the key words.(Give students some time to finish the task. )The main idea: Too many people take weight-loss pills without really knowing that they can damage their health.Some key words: a Canadian actress, go to hospital, took weight-loss pills, 7 kg per two months, a new liver, a Chinese donated to save her, my cousin, want to try it, refuse to eat, my aunt is worried, what and how I can do to help my cousin.Step 2 Recommending a Gym to a FriendT: One of your friends is thinking of join a gym. He is trying to find a gym he can afford. Sometimes, a dot is used at the end of the abbreviation, such as Oct., pron. and so on.
