A LESSON PLAN FOR UNIT 5 (Go For It)I Teaching Time: 45 minutesII Teaching Contents: Learning to use the Present Progressive tense to express their or others behaviourIII Teaching Purposes:1 Help the Ss master the usage and pronunciation of the important words and phrases in the vocabulary list, such as clean, read, apartment and so on. 2 Make the students understand the Present Progressive tense and use it freely.Make sure that they can read the dialogues and the texts fluently, understand them and can make conversations with friends using the sentences theyve learned, for example, What are you doing?Im doing my homework.IV Effective Purpose:1 Help them form the sense of self-learning and corporation by pairwork. 2 Stimulate their confidence and sense of achievement in English-learning by proper encouragement.V Key Points:1 Words: clean, read, wait2 Phrases:doing (ones) homework, watching TV, cleaning, eating dinner,reading, talking on the phone.3 Expressions: Lets go at six oclock. Sure. That sounds interesting.VI Teaching Aids: the computer and the equipment, the beautiful powerpoint made by the teacher.VII Teaching Procedures:1 Step One Revision (5 minutes)1 Ask the students the mans job using the sentence what does he do? After the students answer the question, draw the conclusion that the structure What do/ does sb. do? is used to ask someones job. 2 Ask the students what do you want to be? .After the students answer the question, draw the conclusion that the structure What do/ does sb. want to be? is used to ask someones job in the future. 3 Ask the students the tense used in the two sentences above. Apparently, its the Simple Present Tense and then we will come to our new part - Present Progressive tense. Tell them that later well talk about it.2 Step Two Presentation (20 minutes)1 Do different things and ask the students What am I doing? and help the students answer the questions. Tell them that this is the use of Present Progressive tense.2 Use the pictures teach the students the phrases:doing (ones) homework做家庭作业 watching TV 看电视cleaning 打扫 eating dinner 吃饭reading 阅读 talking on the phone 打电话3 Practice the following conversations with the help of pictures:What am I doing? Im reading.=I am reading.What is he doing? Hes eating dinner.= He is eating dinner.What is she doing? Shes talking on the phone.=She is talking on the phone.4 Guessing Game (Ask the students What is he/she doing?Is he/she Is he/she And then they will answer my questions with Yes/No, he/she is (not)5 Conclude the Grammar points to make the student understand the Present Progressive tense better.意义:表示现在(说话瞬间)正在进行或发生的动作构成:助动词be( am/ is/ are) + 现在分词(V-ing)问:What +助动词be + sb. +现在分词?答:Sb. +助动词be +现在分词.一般疑问句:助动词be + sb. +现在分词+ 其他?肯定回答:Yes, 主语+ be +现在分词.否定回答:No,主语+ be + not +现在分词.否定句(在肯定句中的be动词后加not)3 Step Three Competition(8 minutes)List 3 groups of verbs , divide the students into 3groups,ask the students to change the verbs into present participles and make the students compete with each other. The winners will be praised by the other students with the sentencesCongratulations! You are excellent! Then show the students the rules of changing the verbs into present participles and explain them.4 Step Four Drills (10 minutes)Choo
