She had two elder sisters, two younger sisters and one younger brother. Her mother died when she was five years old, leaving six children. Fortunately, her father was intellect, so he often taught his children to read books and magazines and read stories to them. These influenced Charlotte in developing her interest in literature. When she was very young, she was sent to a boarding school with her three sisters. In 1825, her two elder sisters died of infectious disease in that school. Then her younger sister Emily and she were forced to go back home and compiled a journal named “Youth”, which laid a solid foundation for their later creation literature. When she was 15, she went to another school to study. And in order to support her family, she became a teacher in this school after her graduation. After she left this school, she went to a rich family to be a tutor for twice, during which she declined to men who wanted to marry her. In 1847, under the name of Currier Bell, she published her first novel Jane Eyre which was a great shock at that time and made her successful. Her two younger sisters also published their novels and succeeded. The great success of the Bronte sisters brought great happiness to their family. But in the following years, Charlotte suffered from great sorrow: her younger brothers and two sisters died one by one in two years. But she persisted in writing and published another three fictions. She got married with a priest when she was 38 years old. After enjoying happiness for six months, she died in the next year.1.2 Introduction of the Character of Jane EyreJane Eyre successfully portrayed a new type of small bourgeois womenJane.and described a vivid character who struggle for womens economic independence and equal rights of love.“Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain and little, I am soulless and heartless? You think wrong! I have as much soul as you, and fill as much heart! And if God had gifted me with some beauty and much wealth, I should have made it as hard for you to leave me, as it is now for me to leave you. I am not talking to you through the medium of custom, conversation, nor even of mortal flesh: it is my spirit that addressed your spirit; just as it both had passed through the grave, and we stood at Gods feet equal, as we are!” When read this paragraph of classical dialogue, we can learn that Jane has normal appearance and unfortunate experiences, but she has internal temperament and fiery spirit. The heroine Jane is a person with gangle body, ordinary appearance ,no money and no status, but had extraordinary temperament and very abundant emotion world. On her way to seek the ideal life, she encounters many difficulties and frustrations, and takes a series of fights. She is brave enough to fight against many evil and terrible things. Her rebellious character changes her tragic fate. Janes childhood is full of violence. Then her school life makes her suffer from many obstacles. Her love also makes her disappointed. In peoples eyes, she experiences a very unfortunate life. But Jane finds her boundless confidence and tough spirit, and a kind of inner power cant be defeated. Her self-esteem is related to her life environment. She is poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul. In her view, everyone is the same at Gods feet. Though there are differences in status, in property and also in appearance, all the human beings are equal in personality.1.3 Introduction of the NovelThis novel begins with little Jane as an orphan child with a fiery spirit, longing to love and be loved in the house of her uncles widow. She is unfortunate when she is born, because she loses her parents and is sent to her aunts family, where she is heartlessly treated. But she has her own ideas and then being rebellious for some intolerant reasons. So she is packed off by her aunt to a charitable boarding school, which administers make discipline with especial vigor. All the people in this school are bad to Jane. But Jane is not destroyed by the ugly fact, and she is not be defeated by difficulties. On the contrary, she learns how to live and how to be strong. And she has the courage to struggle with the pressure. Jane sets herself to learn, qualifies herself as a teacher, advertises for a post, and is employed as a governess of the illegitimate French daughter of Rochester in Thorn field. A love relationship develops between Jane and Rochester. Janes good qualities and unique personality win Rochesters proposal of marriage. But at the very moment, the wedding ceremony is interrupted for Rochester is discovered to have a mad wife who is hidden in that house. Jane doesnt want to be Rochesters mistress and subsequently leaves Thorn field, wandering far away. She is rescued by the rivers family and urged to marry John River. Almost she agrees, but she thinks it over, she refuses to marry. Because she can not forget Rochester whose voice crying her name resounds in her ears. Then Jane gains a large amount of inheritance from her uncle whom she has never known before. She returns to Thorn field, but Rochesters mansion has been destroyed by a fire started by the mad wife. However, she finds Rochester is blind and live in a small room nearby. But Jane doesnt leave him alone; she really loves him and wants to look after him. At last they get marry.Chapter 2 Knowledge Influence upon Jane2.1 Janes Childhood Life When Jane was a child, she lived in the house of her Aunt Reed who usually abused and beat her. And her cousin, John Reed also made fun of her, John Reed treated Jane quite badly, often bullied and published Jane. But Jane was reluctant to suffer those. She resisted with them by her strong will. But she is too weak to gain her own proper position. Unfortunately, her rebellious acts brought her more cruel facts. Jane liked reading books, so she slipped into her aunts book-room which contained a bookcase to read books. One time, she was so absorbed in those books that she did nt discover John Reed coming into the room, and then she was published by John Reed. From that on, she was forbidden to go into book-room to read books. She felt very disappointed. But she did nt give up reading books; she was deeply attracted by the books pictures and stories. When reading a book, she found herself as if she were in another perfect world and forgot the injustice in the real world.Generally speaking, a good family environment is very important to the growth and the future of a child. If children lived in such kind of broken families, their childhood life would be fulled of unhappiness. In modern society, much less one child can stand a family situation like Janes. So we can say that one bad family environment will produce an unhealthy child easily. But Jane tolerated all of these pains. She found her survival hope through reading some books. Under such a bad condition, she did nt become others slavery, but became the master of her fate. That is because she obtained energy from books, and understand the preciousness of life .Jane cherish her life and resist with her cousin automatically out of the self-protection.From her early child life,we can learn that knowledge is power to motivate her to grow healthily.2.2 Janes Educational LifeJane received education from Logwood Institution, which was a charitable boarding school. The condition of the school was very bad; there were nt enough food to provide for students. But students still must go on studying. Logwood Institution practiced one kind of ruthless education which declared “punish body to rescue soul.” Jane could not eat fully and wear warmly. Additionally, Mr. Brocklehurst, who was the headmaster of Logwood Institution, accused of her falsely: “The evil one had already found a servant; she was a really bad child.” At that time, Jane hardly believed that her life was such terrible. She almost wanted to end her life to go another world which she thought might be perfect. Fortunately, she met Miss Temple and Helen who helped her much and had a great influence on her life. She found her life goal and decided to study hard to realize her dreams. She regarded Miss Temple and Helen as her best friends. She studied hard to make a difference in her lifetime. Her memory was not naturally good, but much exercise sharpened her wits. She wanted to learn more knowledge to improve her life and made her survive for a long period of time. After the eight-year life in Logwood Institution, Jane was tired of the dull everyday life .Thus she made a decision to advertise in a newspaper for a job as a governess. She desired to have a look at the outside world and see with her own eyes about the persons, the pictures which in the books she had read. Then she began her new and different life. All these are caused by the knowledge she got from the books.2.3 Janes Love Life Jane was employed as a governess at Thorn Field. One time, she met Rochester, the master of a mansion of Thorn Field. Firstly they did nt know each other, and then Jane gradually attracted the attention of the wise and rich Rochester. It was unbelievable that they fell into the river of love and could nt be departed forever. However, they faced with many obstacles in the process of their love. When Jane found that Rochester had a mad wife, she could nt accept the real fact and left him. After that, she experienced a lot of frustrations .she calmed down for a period of time, and thought it over, she returned to find Rochester. At last she got her true love forever. How could Jane get the deep and true love from Rochester? It is neither her pretty appearance nor good shape but extraordinary personality and unique characteristics, especially her strong will, self-respect and independence characters. In a word, all of her qualities came from the accumulation of knowledge. Rochester once told Jane: “You-you strange, you almost unearthly thing! I love you as my own flesh. Youpoor and obscure, and small and plain as you are-I entreat to accept me as a husband.” From these words, we could know that Rochester loved Jane so much and Jane was such an extraordinary woman that deserved to be loved. In Janes love world, she was so wise that she could make reasonable choice. She understood herself what she really wanted to get from her lover. In her mind, true love was the meeting of hears and minds of two people. She believed that true love should be based on equality, mutual understanding and respect. So she finally chosen Rochester as her lover and decided to stay with him forever. Although Rochester became disabled and poor, but Jane didnt care about those at all. She only knew that she had found her true love and would like to take good care of her lover. In most young peoples eyes, nobody would like to marry a man who lost his sight and most of his wealth. They might leave him. But Jane was such a different girl. She had her own view on love. Maybe she had read many books and learned how to deal with things wisely. It was the knowledge that had made her get true love.At least knowledge helps her got the truth of true love and gave her courage.Chapter 3 The course of Janes Fate 3.1 Tragic Fate Jane had an unhappy childhood, she suffered many humiliations and a lot of violence from her cousin and aunt , the headmaster and classmates in Logwood Institution. She was abused by her Aunt Reed who always looked up down her. And Aunt Reeds son John Reed liked making fun of Jane, bullied and punished her. Everyday she must stand so many sorrows. Her life was even worse than the servants of Aunt Reed. She couldnt stand those, so she began to become rebellious to protect herself. But the result was worse; she had to bear the physical torture and the mental damage. Because her behavior made Aunt Reed very nervous, she was sent to the boarding school far away from the Aunt Reed s house. However, at school she was treated badly, she was regarded as a bad girl so nobody wanted to make a friend with her. She felt very disappointed. She didnt give up studying; she still lived on her life. She read books, tried her best to forget the cruel world, and she was addicted in the pictures and stories of books. She often read the books secretly. She got through her child life in that bad environment. 3.2 Good Fortune Jane had her own ideas. she didnt want to be the slavery of the life, so she depended on her strong will and perseverance to make a new life in her youth period. After she stayed at school for eight years, she tried to challenge the life by another way. So she decided to go outside to develop her career, then she posted an advertisement to be a governess. By her efforts, she realized her dream and succeeded to own a job. From that on, her life became better than before. Not only did she get a satisfied job, but also she got her true love. Her fate had been change greatly. How can common Jane become an uncommon female? One of the reasons is: Knowledge changes the fate of Jane. Jane loves reading books, she gets rich knowledge from those books. Knowledge makes Jane more strong and smart. She realizes that knowledge is very important to her. And knowledge is part of her life, she cant live without it. Knowledge rescues her from bitterness and brings her into a good life.3.3 True Love in Her Happy LifeLove is the most beautiful thing in human beings life. And love cant be measured by status, power or property. Everyone is eager to get a beautiful, romantic, happy and everlasting love. In this novel, Rochester is much older than Jane Eyre, even can be her father. No matter what society it is, age is an important obstacle between lovers. At the beginning, Rochester is very proud, ironic and strict that makes Jane feel puzzled. Then they spend a lot of time on conversation. Jane becomes alive when talks with him, and is also stimulated by the challenges he offers. and she feels comfortable during the process of arguing against his opinions. Life experiences, maturity and some points about the life are different. Rochester often says that Janes youthfulness, limited experiences call her his little friend “I envy you, you peace of mind, your clean conscience, and you unpolluted memory little girl.” From her childhood experiences, it is known that Jane does not have parents and does not get love from her parents. Rochester is the first man she meets that gives her love and makes her feel very happy, so she falls in love with him who has rich experience and is very mature. Jane has her own view on love, she does not pursue the material life, she only wants to satisfy her spiritual needs. So she needs a person who can give her true love and make her life become diff
