I told them why I wanted to volunteer, and they asked if I had ever worked with children with disabilities. I said no, a little nervously, as I hadnt had a lot of experience with disabled children. The center then conducted an interview for me, and a week later, I was a Thursday volunteer. I was required to take care of one or two children with disabilities throughout their daily activities: playing, using the toilet, breaks, lunch, music time, etc. On my very first day, I fell in love with what I was doing! It was hard, but it was also unbelievably beneficial. The staff and other volunteers provided a strong support network and I never felt at a loss. I really enjoyed working with the children, and watching them develop over the school year. I stayed in
