Do you know about the serious disease-cancer? It is difficult to cure completely. And when a person begins to get cancer, he doesnt know anything about it. He feels like a healthy person. But when he feels sick, this,disease has developed to the afternoon. At that time, the person will suffer a lot. Even if it can be treated with medicine, chemicals and radiation, most patients will die not a long time after the discovery of the disease. However, if a patient keeps up,an optimistic and calm state of mind, and actively get treated by doctors, he will live longer than other patients with cancer.,Reading,1. How did cancer change the writers life? At first the writer was very sad and pessimistic about the disease and thought that he was going to end. With the help of his family, friends, doctors and other kind persons, he picked,up his courage. He decided to face the case bravely and struggled against the disease. The treatment proved to be successful. Soon he went home from hospital. From this experience, he has realized that though he will never be completely free from,cancer, he will go on struggling for a longer life. Also he has realized that how precious life is and has learned how to enjoy beautiful life. 2. How do you think your life would change if you found out that you had an incurable disease?,I think I would react like the writer at first. But I would also learn from Xiaohua and the writer of this passage and try my best to make myself cheerful and peaceful. In order to live longer and reduce my parents worry about me, I would listen to doctors,suggestions and get treated even though I felt very sick and suffered a lot. I must accept this fact and face it bravely. I knew that I could not live as long as my classmates, so I would correct my life plan and make a new one. In my limited life I would make,every effort to realize it. For example, before I got the disease, I had dreamed of being a scientist, but now I would have to change it for being a helpful person to others and society and doing what I could to help those who need help like Xiaohua.,3. And her mother died of AIDS. Whats worse, about 2.5 million Africans die of AIDS every year and tens of millions more will die soon if nothing is done.,3. How does HIV/AIDS affect the countries in Sub-Saharan Africa? HIV/AIDS is spreading fast in Sub-Saharan Africa. Many people are infected with HIV/AIDS and many more people are dying with this disease. Children lose their parents and,families lose their ability to make money to survive. Most of the countries have enough money to prevent and treat the disease. Therefore many African countries are almost being destroyed by the disease.,4. What are some of the difficulties young people with HIV/AIDS must face? What could we do to help solve the problem?
