MyJourneytoLearningEnglishinPrimarySchool

Goodmorning,everyone.Mynameis[Name],andIamaprimary

schoolstudent.Today,Iwanttosharewithyoumyjourneyto

learningEnglishinprimaryschool.

IrememberwhenIfirststartedlearningEnglishinprimaryone,it

feltlikeawholenewworld.Atfirst,itwasdifficulttoremember

allthenewwordsandgrammarrules,butmyteacherswerealways

patientandencouraging,andIsoonstartedtoenjoylearning

English.

Inprimarytwo,westartedtohavesimpleconversationsinEnglish,

andIfeltproudtobeabletocommunicatewithmyforeignfriends.

WealsostartedtowatchEnglishcartoonsandsingEnglishsongs,

whichhelpedustoimproveourlisteningandpronunciationskills.

AsIprogressedtoprimarythreeandfour,westartedtolearnmore

complexgrammarrulesandvocabulary.Welearnedhowtowrite

simpleessaysandhavemoremeaningfulconversationsinEnglish.

IalsostartedtoreadEnglishbooks,whichimprovedmyreading

comprehensionandexpandedmyvocabulary.

MyjourneytolearningEnglishinprimaryschoolhasnotalways

beensmoothsailing.ThereweretimeswhenIfeltfrustratedand

overwhelmedbytheamountofworkwehadtodo.However,my

teachersandparentswerealwaystheretosupportmeand

encouragemetokeeptrying.

Now,inprimaryfive,IfeelconfidentinmyEnglishabilities.Ican

communicatewithpeoplefromdifferentcountriesandunderstand

Englishbooksandmovies.LearningEnglishhasopenedupso

manyopportunitiesforme,andIamgratefulfortheeffortand

supportfrommyteachersandparents.

Inconclusion,learningEnglishinprimaryschoolhasbeena

wonderfuljourneyforme.Ithasbeenchallengingattimes,but

withhardworkanddetermination,Ihavebeenabletoimprovemy

Englishskillsandcommunicatewithpeoplefromallaroundthe

world.Thankyouforlisteningtomyspeech.AsIenteredprimary

six,Ifeltbothexcitedandnervous.Thiswasourfinalyearof

primaryschool,andwewereexpectedtohaveamoreadvanced

understandingoftheEnglishlanguage.Wewouldbereading

longertexts,writingmorecomplexessays,andparticipatingin

debatesandpresentations.

Despitethepressure,IfeltconfidentinmyEnglishabilities.My

yearsofhardworkanddedicationhadpaidoff,andIwasexcited

tofacethesenewchallenges.MyEnglishteacher,Ms.Lee,was

verysupportiveandencouragedustothinkcreativelyandexpress

ourselvesfreelyinEnglish.Sheintroducedustodifferentwriting

stylesandgenres,suchaspersuasivewritingandpoetry,which

helpedustodevelopourwritingskillsandexpressourselvesmore

effectively.

Oneofthemostmemorableexperiencesofprimarysixwasour

Englishprojectonendangeredanimals.Wehadtoresearchand

writeareportonanendangeredanimalandcreateapresentationto

sharewithourclassmates.Itwaschallenging,butalsovery

rewardingtolearnaboutdifferentanimalsandhowwecouldhelp

toprotectthem.

Astheendoftheschoolyearapproached,wehadtopreparefor

thePrimarySchoolLeavingExam(PSLE).Thisexamwould

determinewhichsecondaryschoolwewouldbeplacedin,andour

Englishresultswouldplayasignificantroleinouroverallscore.

Needlesstosay,therewasalotofpressureonustodowell.

ButIwasconfidentinmyEnglishskills,andIknewthatmyyears

ofhardworkwouldpayoffintheexam.Ipracticedmywriting

andcomprehensionskillseveryday,readbooksandnewspapersin

English,andwatchedEnglishshowsandmoviestoimprovemy

listeningskills.Ialsoaskedmyteachersforfeedbackonmywork,

sothatIcouldimprovemyweakareas.

Finally,thedayoftheexamarrived.Iwasnervousbutprepared,

andIfeltthattheexamwentwell.Whentheresultswerereleased,

IwasoveqoyedtofindoutthatIhadscoredanAinEnglish.Iwas

oneofthetopstudentsinmycohort,andmyhardworkhadpaid

off.

LookingbackonmyjourneytolearningEnglishinprimaryschool,

Ifeelgratefulfortheexperience.LearningEnglishhasopenedup

somanydoorsforme,bothacademicallyandpersonally.Ihave

madefriendsfromdifferentcountries,traveledtodifferentplaces,

andexpandedmyknowledgebeyondmycultureandlanguage.

ToanyonewhoisstrugglingwithlearningEnglish,myadvice

wouldbetonevergiveup.Learninganewlanguagetakestime

andeffort,buttherewardsareworthit.Surroundyourselfwith

English-speakingenvironmentsandpracticespeaking,reading,

writing,andlisteningeveryday.Mostimportantly,don'tbeafraid

tomakemistakes.Learningfromyourmistakesispartofthe

process.

Inconclusion,learningEnglishinprimaryschoolhasbeena

challenging
