ThetextbookforthiscourseisthefourpulsoryhighschoolEnglishbooksoftheForeignStudyEdition(2019),thethemeofwhichisCrossculturalmunication.TheUnitofthislessonisUnit3TheWorldMeetsChina.Taskbasedteachingisdividedintothreestages:prereading,readingandwriting.ThislessonfocusesontheinfluenceofChinesecultureintheworldbypracticingphrases,grammarandvocabularyinEnglishsentences.

Teachingobjectives:

1.Knowledgeobjective:Studentscanmasterandusethekeyvocabulary,phrasesandsentencepatternsofthisunit;

2.Abilitygoal:Studentscanextractthekeyinformationofthetexttoachieveaprehensiveunderstandingofreading;

3.Emotionalgoal:Tocultivatestudents'interestandprideinChinesecultureandenhancetheirabilityofcrossculturalmunication.

Teachingfocus:

1.Learnandusethekeyvocabulary,phrasesandsentencepatternsofthisunit;

2.Cultivatestudents'interestintraditionalChineseculture.

1.Howstudentsextractkeyinformationtoachieveaprehensiveunderstandingofthetext;

Analysisoflearningsituation:

TheunitofthislessonisthethirdunitofthefourpulsoryEnglishvolumesinSeniortwo.StudentshavealreadyhadacertainEnglishfoundation,includingbasicvocabularyandgrammar.DuetothegeographicalandhistoricalfactorsofChina,studentshaveacertainunderstandingofChinesecultureandtraditions,buttheymayneedtofurtherstudythespecificdetailsoftraditionalculture.

Teachingstrategy:

1.Stimulatestudents'interestandinitiativeinlearning,andactivelyparticipateinclassactivitiesthroughquestionsanddiscussions;

2.Guidestudentstousetheknowledgetheyhavelearnedfortextunderstandingandexpression;

3.Createacooperativelearningatmospheretoencouragestudentstocooperatewitheachother,shareandparetheirlearningresults.

2.Introduction:Arousestudents'interestinChineseculturebydisplayingpicturesorvideosoftraditionalChineseculture;

3.Reading:Usingtaskbasedreadingteachingmethod,setquestionstoguidestudentstoreadandunderstandthearticleaccordingtothestructureofthetextbook;

4.Expressionandpractice:Throughgroupdiscussion,roleplayandotheractivities,letstudentsusetheknowledgetoexpressandpractice;

5.Summaryandevaluation:Summarizeandevaluatewhatstudentshavelearnedinthislesson.

Throughtheaboveteachingstrategiesandmethods,itcanimprovestudents'initiativeandparticipation,stimulatestudents'interestinChineseculture,andhelpstudentsbettergraspthecontentofthislesson.

Introduction(about5minutes):

Teachingcontent:Introducestudents'researchontheconceptandunderstandingof"China".

Teachingactivities:Teacherswritetheword"China"ontheblackboard,guidestudentstotalkabouttheirownunderstandingofChina,andaskquestions,suchas"WhatdoyouthinkChinaisfamousscenicspotsandtraditionalfestivals?"Or"What'syourimpressionofChineseculture?"Studentscanhavegroupdiscussions,andthenteacherscanrandomlyselectseveralgroupstosharetheirviewsandknowledge.

Classroominteraction(approx.35minutes):

Teachingcontent:TounderstandsomeculturalphenomenaandcharacteristicsofChinabylearningthearticle"UsingLanguage".

1.Theteacherfirstdistributesthereadingmaterialsofthetexttothestudents,asksthemtoreadindependently,andmarksthewordsorsentencesthattheydonotunderstand.

2.Afterstudentsfinishreading,teachersorganizestudentstocarryoutlisteningandspeakingtrainingandguidestudentstopletethefollowingtasks:

A.Listeningtraining:TheteacherplaystheaudiomaterialandasksthestudentstolistentothedescriptionaboutChinaandmakeabriefnoteofit.Thenhaveadiscussionwithyourtablematesandsharewhatthey'veheard.

b.Oraltraining:TeacherspreparesomequestionsaboutChinesecultureforstudents,suchas"WhichtraditionalChinesefestivaldoyouthinkisthemostinteresting?"Why?"Or"WhatvaluesdotheChinesepeoplevalue?"Havestudentsdiscussinsmallgroupsandpresenttheirownideas.Encouragestudentstohaveconversationswithgroupmembersandusethesentencepatternsandvocabularytheyhavelearnedasmuchaspossible.

c.Listeningtraining:TheteacherplaysanewsreportaboutChinaandthestudentsanswersomequestionsrelatedtothenewscontentafterlistening.Studentscandiscusswiththeirdeskmatesandgivetheirownanswers.

Endsession(approx.5minutes):

Content:Reviewwhatyouhavelearnedtostimulatestudents'interestinChineseculture.

TeachingActivities:

1.TheteacherandstudentscanreviewtheChineseculturalphenomenaandcharacteristicslearnedinthislessontogetherandaskthestudentstoexpresstheminshortwords.

2.TheteachersummarizesthemainpointsofthelessonandencouragesstudentstocontinuetolearnaboutChinesecultureandaskquestions.

3.Teachersprovidesomesearchkeywordsorremendbooks,moviesandotherresourcestohelpstudentshaveadeeperunderstandingofChineseculture.

4.TeacherscanplayapieceoftraditionalChinesemusicattheendofclasstocreateapositivelearningatmosphereandenablestudentstohaveadeeperexperienceofChineseculture.

Throughtheintroductionoftheinvestigation,classroominteractivereading,listeningandspeakingtrainingandtheconclusionofthereview,theaimistoimprovestudents'understandingofandinterestinChineseculture.

1.Strengthenpreclassguidance:Beforeclass,Iwillstrengthenthepreclassguidancetostudents,encouragethemtounderstandrelevantknowledgeinadvance,andprovidecertainlearningmaterialsandreadingmaterials,sothattheycanbetterunderstandandapplyinclass.

2.Designconsolidatingexercises:Inthedesignofexercises,Iwilldesignsomechallengingandconsolidatingexercisesbinedwithclassroomteachingcontent,sothatstudentscanthinkanddiscussinclass,andimprovetheirgraspandunderstandingoftheknowledge.
