Severalmonthslater,Ifinallyreceivedacallaskingmetoreportforduty.Iwouldbegoingtoasmallvillagenear

Abuja,Nigeria.Where?What?Nigeria?Ihadnoidea.ButIwasabouttofindout.

Aftercompletingmytraining,Iwassenttothevillagethatwassmallanddesperatelyinneedofproper

accommodation.Thoughthelocalvillagerswerepoor,theyofferedtheirhomes,food,andheartsasifIweretheir

ownfamily.Iwasaskedtoleadasmallteamoflocalpeopleinbuildinganewschoolhouse.Forthenextyearorso,

Itaughtinthatsameschoolhouse.ButIsometimesthinkIlearnedmorefrommystudentsthantheydidfromme.

Sometimeduringthatperiod,Irealizedthatallthosethingsthathadseemedsostrangeorunusualtomeno

longerdid,thoughIdidnotgetanywherewiththelocallanguage,andreturnedtotheUnitedStatesadifferentman.
