E.g.Sheisour

newteacherwhohasjustcomebackfromtheUnitedStates.

E.g.a.Thisisthebaby

whomyouwilllook

after.

b.Theyinvitedmetovisittheircountry,whichisverykindofthem.

E.g.a.Thatwasall

thatIwantedtotellyouabout.

b.Ascientistisapersonwhodoesscientificresearch.

c.Thehouse

whosedoorisbrownismine.

a.Thisistheschool

whereIstudiedtwentyyearsago.

b.Ithoughtofmychildhood

whenIlivedinthevillage.

c.That'sthereason

whyI'mnotinfavourofyourplan.

a.SheisgoingtospendthesummerholidaysinQingdao,

whereshehassomerelatives.

b.Thisisthe

place

which

Ivisitedlastyear.c.

Didyoustillrememberthedays

when

wespenttogetherinHainan?

d.October1stis

theday

which

weChinesepeoplewillneverforget.

A.when,where,why

关系副词when,where,why含义相当于“介词+which”结构,所以经常和“介词+which”结构交替使用,E.g.:

a.Thereareoccasionswhen(onwhich)onemustyield.b.Beijingistheplacewhere(inwhich)Iwasborn.c.Isthisthereasonwhy(forwhich)herefusedouroffer?B.that代替关系副词

that能够用于表示时间、地点、方式、理由名词后取代when,where,why和“介词+which”引导定语从句,在口语中that常被省略,E.g.:

Hisfatherdiedtheyear(that/when/inwhich)hewasborn.Heisunlikelytofindtheplace(that/where/inwhich)helivedfortyyearsago.
