heardfromtheirdescriptionsofthedreams.Whiletheparticipantsslept,theresearchersalsousedanEEG(脑电图)

capthatdetectselectricalactivitytorecordtheirbrainwaves.Thisshowedthatthewavepatternsduringtherapideye

movementphaseofsleep,whendreamsoccur,weremoresimilarbetweenthosewhohadheardthesameaudiobook

thanthosewhohadhearddifferentones,suggestingthatthelisteningexperienceshapedthebrainactivity.

Furtheranalysisofthepatternsrevealedthathigh-frequencybetawaves-between18and30hertz-weremost

stronglyassociatedwiththeparticipantsrecallingtheaudiobook-relatedcontentoftheirdreams.Thefindingssuggest

thatdailylifeexperiencescanshapedreamcontentviamemoryreactivation,accordingtotheresearchers.Butwhile

dreamingmayserveadistinctpurposeinmemoryformation,itcouldalsobeaby-productofmemoryprocessing.
