restrooms,visitorcentersandotherinfrastructurearecrumbling.
Butprivatizingandcommercializingthecampgroundswouldnotbethepanaceathatthe
InteriorDepartment'sOutdoorAdvisoryCommitteewouldhaveusbelieve.Campgroundsare

internet,alsofoundthatpeoplewouldbewillingtopayasignificantamountofmoneyto
makesuretheparksandtheirprogramsarekeptintact.Some81%ofrespondentssaidthey
wouldbewillingtopayadditionaltaxesforthenext10yearstoavoidanycutstothenational
parks.
ThenationalparksprovidegreatvaluetoU.S.residentsbothasplacestoescapeandas
symbolsofnature.Ontopofthis,theyproducevaluefromtheirextensiveeducational
programs,theirpositiveimpactontheclimatethroughcarbonsequestration,theircontribution
