thatthisbeautifulandcharmingcityisslowlysinking.Eversincethe14thcenturyengineershave

triedtoworkoutawaytostopthefloodsinVenice,butsofarnobodyhasmanaged.Sometimes

thereareasmanyas40floodsperyearbetweenMarchandSeptember,andVeniceisactually

sinkingatarateoftwoandahalfincheseverydecade.It’sverypossiblethatyourgrandchildren,

andtheirgrandchildrenwillneverhavethechancetoseethisfragilecity.Everyoneshouldhave

thechancetoenjoythecity,towalkacrossitsfamousbridges,throughitsancientsquares.There

arenocarsinVenice,andmanypeoplethinkithelpsthistobeoneofthemostromanticcitiesin

theworld.So,canitbesaved?

Well,theyaretrying.Barriersarebeingputintotryandstopthewatergettingtoohigh.This

isviewedasatemporarymeasure,althoughtheyshouldlast100years,sotheproblemisfindinga

permanentsolution.Ifyouwantmyadvice,gotherewhileyoustillcan,andthentogetherwecan

putpressureonthegovernmenttospendthemoneyitneedstofindapermanentwaytokeepthis

beautifulandhistoriccityforfuturegenerations.Wehaveanopportunitynowtosavethiscity,

andwemust,beforeit’stoolate.
