1 Scope

ThisspecificationcoverstheSaudiAramcorequirementsforlocalEmergencyIsolationValve(ZV)controlsystems.IncludedarerequirementsfortheESDsysteminput/outputchannels,thelocalcontrolpanel(LCP),andthesmartvalvecontrollerthatmakeupeachSmartZV.TheSmartZVassemblyprovideslocalcontrolandtestingfunctionalityforspringreturnanddoubleactingp aticvalveactuators.Functionalrequirementsareclarifiedincludingthe"partialstroke"featureprovidedforon-linetestingofZV's.

Alternativedesignsshallonlybeusedwhenpre-approvedbytheManager,ProcessandControlSystemsDepartment.

CommentaryNotes:

AllEmergencyIsolationValves(ZV's)arerequiredtobedesignedandinstalledsuchthattheycanbefunctionallytestedwhileon-line(in-service).Functionaltestingmaytaketheformofafull-stroketestora"partialstroke"test.

"Partialstroke"testingprovidesawaytoverifyZVperformancewhenfunctionaltestingisrequiredwhiletheZVison-line."PartialStroke"testingisnotintendedtotaketheceoffull-strokeZVfunctionaltests.Rather,"partialstroke"testingshouldbeperformedtomeettherequiredfunctionaltestinterval(e.g.,quarterly)betweenscheduledunitshutdownswhenfullstroketestingcanbeperformed.

Notes:

"Sheltered"referstopermanent,ventilatedenclosuresorbuildings,orpermanentlyfixedsunshadeswithatopandthreesides.

Forinstrumentswhichdissipateinternalheatandareinstalledincustomengineeredenclosures(e.g.,enclosuresnotincludedintheoriginalmanufacturer'stemperaturecertification),anadditional15°Cshallbeaddedtotheaboveumtemperatures.Anexample,for"indoorairconditioned"installation,theequipmentmustperformat35+15=50°C.Similarly,forthe"outdoorunsheltered"case,theequipmentshallbedesignedforaumoperatingtemperatureof65+15=80°C.

Fortheoutdoorinstallationsonly,thedesignercantakecreditfordorpassivecoolingtoeliminateorreducethe15°Cheatrise.Forexample,ifvortexcoolersareused,theheatremovalcapacityofthecoolersmaybesubtractedfromthegeneratedheat.Nomorethan15°Creductionintemperaturewillbegivenascredit.Thedesignershallsubstantiatehibyprovidingthesupportdataandcalculations.

Humidity

Designbasisshallbe5%to95%relativehumidity(non-condensing).

Contaminants

Theinstrumentmanufacturershallensurethatallequipmentisdesignedtowithstandthefollowingairqualityrequirements.

CommentaryNote:

Air-bornedustconcentrationsandcontaminantlevelsareusedinmechanicalequipmentdesign,whensizingairfiltersandasameasureofpotentialdustingress.

DustConcentration

Usualairbornedustconcentrationis1mg/m³.Duringsandstorms,dustconcentrationsmayreach500mg/m³.Particlesizesareasfollows:

95%ofallparticlesarelessthan20micrometers50%ofallparticlesarelessthan1.5micrometers

Elementspresentindustincludecompoundsofcalcium,silicon,magnesium,aluminum,potassium,chloridesandsodium.Whenwetted(highhumidityconditions)thesecompoundsfunctionaselectrolytesandcanresultinseverecorrosion.

Otherpollutantspresentintheatmosphereunderthemostextremeconditionsare:

Equipmentinstalledoffshoreornearshore(i.e.,within0.5kmfromshoreline),shallbesuitedfortheharshenvironment(NEMA4Xenclosure,316SSTexternals,hermiticallysealed,etc.).

GeneralRequirements

LocalZVControl

Eachp aticallyoperatedZVshallbeprovidedwithlocalcontrolsthatpermittheZVtobeoperatedintheeventofanemergencyandtobereturnedtothenormaloperatingpositionlocallywhentheemergencyconditionshavereturnedtonormal,tripinitiatorsarehealthy,andthelogicsystemhasbeenreset(ready-to-resetlightenergized).

LocalZVReset

ResettingtheESDsystemlogicviatheremotepushbuttoninthecontrolroomshallnotcausetheassociatedZV'stoautomaticallyreturntotheirnormaloperatingposition.Manual'local'operatorinterventionisrequiredtoverifyconditionsinthefieldpriortoresettingaZV,followingatrip.

Inhigh-pressureapplications(GOSPinlet,etc.),theESDsystemshallpreventtheZVfromopeninguntilthepressuredifferentialacrossthevalvehasreachedasafelevel(viadifferentialpressureESDinput).

SmartZVLocalControlSystem

TheSmartZVsystemshallbecomprisedofaLocalControlPanel(LCP),asmartvalvepositioner,solenoidvalves,anESDHARThandheldcommunicator(orequalcomputerbasedconfiguration),andassociatedESDI/Oasoutlinedinsection6.6andshowninLibraryDrawingDB-950106,Sheets1and2.Inaddition,whenrequestedbythe

proponent,HARTsignalsplitters/multiplexerswithintheESDsystemmarshallingcabinetsshallbeprovidedtofacilitateintegrationwithandvendorspecificvalvediagnosticsoftware.

LocalControlPanel(SmartZV)

EachSmartZVshallbeequippedwithalocalcontrolpanel(LCP)topermittheZVtobeoperatedlocallyintheeventofanemergency,tobereturnedtothenormaloperatingpositionwhenthetripinitiatorsarehealthy,andtofacilitatefunctionaltestingoftheZV.

SmartZVLCPPushbuttons

ASmartZVLCPshallincludethreepushbuttons:1)valveclose,

2)valveopen,and3)test.

Thelocalpushbuttonsshallbeshroudedtopreventunintendedactuation.

CommentaryNote:

TheSmartZVLCPpushbuttonsarecloselyintegratedwithESDsystemlogicandthecontrolelementsmountedonthevalve(smartvalvepositioner,solenoidvalves,andlimitswitches).

ValveClosePush-button

Amomentarycontactpushbuttontoclosethevalveshallbeprovided.ThelocalvalveclosepushbuttoncontactsshallopenonactuationandshallbehardwiredasadiscreteinputtotheESDsystem.TheESDlogicandoutputsshalldrivethevalvetotheclosedpositionwhenthelocalclosepushbuttonisactivatedattheLCP.

ValveOpenPush-button

Amomentarycontactpushbuttontoopenthevalveshallbeprovided.ThelocalvalveopenpushbuttoncontactsshallcloseonactuationandshallbehardwiredasadiscreteinputtotheESDsystem.TheESDlogicandoutputsshalldrivethevalvetotheopenpositionwhenthelocalopenpushbuttonisactivatedattheLCP.

TestPush-button

Amomentarycontactpushbuttontoinitiateapartial-stroketestshallbeprovided.Thelocaltestpushbuttonshallcloseon

actuationandshallbehardwiredfromtheLCPdirectlytothesmartvalvepositioner(shallinitiatetheuserdefinedpartialstroketestresidinginmemorywithinthesmartvalvepositioner).

SmartZVLCPIndicationLamps:

TheLCPshallincludea"ready-to-reset"indicationlamptoprovidelocalindicationwhentheZVmaybereturnedtothenormaloperatingpositionfollowinganESDsystemtrip.The"ready-to-reset"lampshallbepoweredviaadiscreteoutputfromtheESDsystem.

CommentaryNote:

Ready-to-Resetlight:ThelampshallilluminatewhenallrelevantESDinputsareinthehealthyconditionandthelogicsystemhasbeenreset.Thelampshallextinguishwhenthevalvemovesfromthefail-safeposition.

WhenspecifiedonForm8020-634-ENG,localZVopenandclosedvalvepositionindicationlampsshallbeincludedwithintheLCP.

LEDtypelightsshallbeprovided(e.g.,Stahl8010/2-01orequal).

ColorsusedshallbeOpen–Green,Closed–Red,andReadytoReset–Amber.

LightsshallberemovableandreceablewhiletheZVison-line(inservice).

LocalControlPanelTerminations

TerminalstripswithintheZVLCPshallbeadequaysizedtoalloweasyaccesstotheterminations(hinged"swing-out"spacesaver,doubleortriplegangtypeterminationsarenotallowed).

TheLCPenclosureshallbeadequaysizedtoalloweasyterminationofexternalcablesandincludespaceforthelayofconductors.

LocalControlPanelVent/Drain

Acombinationvent/drainfittingshallbeprovidedoneachLCP.

SmartValvePositioner

AZVwillbemade"smart"bytheintroductionofasmarectro-p aticvalvepositioneraspartofthevalveassembly(FisherRosemountDVC6000orapprovedequalwithexternalsolenoidvalve).

ThesmartvalvepositionershallbemountedontheZVactuatortofacilitateon-line,partialstroke(limitedtravel)testing,full-strokeout-of-servicetesting,andself-healthmonitoringviathesmartvalvepositionerdiagnosticsoftware.

Thepositionershallbeinstalledinserieswithsolenoidvalve(s).

ThesmartvalvepositionershallcommunicatewiththeESDsystemviaadedicated4-20maDC/HARThybridESDoutputchannel.Intheeventofatrip,thesolenoidvalvewillchangestate(de-energize)andthepositionersignal

(4-20mADC)shallbedriventotheuserdefinedvalue.

SmartValvePositionerMountingKit

EachSmartZVpositionershallbedwithanactuatormountingkitdesignedspecificallyforuseontheintendedactuator.Ea ountingkitshallincludeprovisionsforvalvepositionlimitswitches(valveopenandvalveclosed).Hermeticallysealedortotallyencapsulated,mechanicalswitchorproximitysensorpositionswitcheswithcontactsratedfortherequiredloadshallbespecified.

On-lineTesting

EachSmartZVshallbeequippedwithaLCPasdescribedaboveinSection6.1.Inadditiontotheopenandclosepushbuttons,a"valvetest"pushbuttonshallbeincludedtoinitiatethepredefinedpartialstroketest(residinginmemorywithinthesmartvalvepositioner).

InadditiontotheLCP"test"pushbutton,on-linetestingofaSmartZVmaybeinitiatedviaHARTprotocolusingalaptopcomputerwithvendorspecifiedvalvetestinganddiagnosticsoftware.Remotepartial-stroketestingofZVsmayalsobe plishedbyusing'HART'multiplexedexternaloutputterminationmodulesorassemblieswithanassociatedZVmaintenanceworkstation.

TheselectionandloadingoftheMultiplexersandHARTfiltersdwithESDmarshallingterminationstointegratethehybridHART og4-20mAsignaltothesmartvalvepostioner,shallbeguaranteedbytheESDvendorforproperoperationwiththeESD ogI/Ocardandthesmartvalvepositioner.

SolenoidValve(s)

ThesolenoidvalvesutilizedwithSmartZV'sshallbeelectro-p aticdirectoperatingorexternalpilottype(capableofoperatingwithoutapplieddifferentialpressure).Theyshallbeusedtopressurize/venttheactuatorinresponsetoanESDtripinafail-safearrangementwiththesmartvalvepositioner.AllsolenoidvalvesshallbespecifiedwithVitoninternals.

WhenSmartZVlocalcontrolsarenotsuitedtotheapplication(e.g.,gasoperatedvalves),localZVshutdowncabinetsshallmeetthedesignrequirementsofthisspecification,SaudiAramcoForm8020-634-ENG,andtheapplicableSaudiAramcoLibraryDrawing(DB-950129orDA-950065).

Alternativedesignsshallonlybeusedwhenpre-approvedbytheManager,ProcessandControlSystemsDepartment.

Installation

Tubingshallbeseamless,316stainlesssteel.Theminimumtubesizeshallbe½inch(12.7mm)O.D.andhaveaminimumwallthicknessof0.03inch(0.75mm).

Exception:

Non-flowingp atictubingsuchaspilotoperatedsolenoidvalveimpulselinesmaybe¼inch(6.35mm)O.D.

Fittingsshallbe316stainlesssteelcompressiontypeSwagelok,Parker,orequal.Threadedconnectionsshallbesealedusingpaste.

Tubingshallbebentusingatubingbender,reamedandinternallycleanedpriortoinstallation.

Pressuregaugesindicating ingsupplypressureandoperatingpressuretothevalveactuator(openandclosedsideofdualactingandopensideofsingleactingactuators)shallbeprovidedinSIorEnglishunitsconsistentwiththeunitconventionusedintheintendedntlocation.

ElectricalInstallation

AllmaterialsandequipmentshallmeetNFPA70,NationalElectricalCoderequirementsfortheintendedhazardousareas.

Allcomponents(solenoidvalves,limitswitches,indicationlights,etc.,shallbecertifiedforuseintheintendedhazardousareabyanapprovedtestingagencywithouttheneedforanyadditionalexternalprotection.BothEExandAExCertifieddevicesareacceptable.

ElectricalwiringandinstallationshallconformtotherequirementsoftheNFPA70,NationalElectricalCode,latestedition.WiringinternaltotheLCPandlocalZVshutdowncabinetshallbe18AWGminimum.

Wireendsshallconnecttopolyamideterminalswithinthecabinet.TerminalmakeshallbeKlippon,Weidmuller,orequal.

Nametes

NametesshallfollowISARP60.6guidelines.

AllinstrumentsmountedinsidelocalZVshutdowncabinetsorassociatedwithSmartZVsystems,shallbeidentifiedbyanameteincludingthetagnumberandservicedescription.

Thenametesshallbeattachedwithstainlesssteelscrewsorstainlesssteelwire.
