一、重点词汇

【知识梳理】

1.invent发明;创造

invent指发明创造出自然界本来不存在的东西,如工具、方法、手段、汽车、电器、合成材料等。

Bellinventedthetelephone.贝尔发明了电话。

Smithinventedanewteachingmethod.史密斯发明了〜种新的教学方法。

【拓展】discover,find,create

discover是“发现”的意思,是指发现原来就有而一直没被发现,如发现电、煤、石油等矿臧及新星、星

系或科学真理等。

ColumbusdiscoveredAmericain1492.1492年哥伦布发现了新大陆。

find的意思是“寻找”,强调找的结果,并不指发现。

2.beusedfor用来做...

此短语中的for是介词,表示用途,后接名词或动词-ing形式。

Anorangeisusedformedicine.桔子可以入药。

Apenisusedforwriting.钢笔用来写字。

【辨析】beusedas与beusedby

beusedas意为“被用作……”,介词as表示“作为”,其后一般接名词,强调使用的工具及手段。

Englishisusedasthesecondlanguageinmanycountries.

英语在许多国家被当作第二语言使用。

Thisroomisusedastheiroffice.这人房间被用作他们的办公室。

beusedby意为“被……使用”,介词by后面接动作的执行者(宾语)。

【辨析】please,pleased,pleasure,pleasant的区别

①please

表请求或要求的语气。是动词(及物动词)。

表“讨好,讨人喜欢;喜欢“(不及物动词)或者“使…高兴,使…满意,使…喜欢”(及物动词)

②pleased形容词。表示“高兴的,喜欢的,满意的“。它指的是人主观上感到的满足心理

-Empleasedtoseeyou!见到你真高兴!

常用句型有:bepleasedtodosth.高兴做某事

bepleasedat/about/with/by对…感到满意/高兴

bepleasedthat从句对…感到满意/高兴

④pleasant形容词。表示“令人愉快的”“让人感到满意'主语一般为物。

4.remain(v.)保持;剩余;残余

remain意为“停留,留下“,相当于stay。"呆在那里”可以说remain/staythere,但“呆在家里”只能说stay

(at)homeo

Theyallwishedustoremain.他们都希望我们留下来。

【拓展】remain作连系动词

remain用作连系动词,意为“保持(某种状态),继续存在,仍旧是“,后面接形容词,名词,分词,不定

式或介词短语。

PeterbecameamanagerbutJohnremainedaworker.彼得当上了经理,但约翰仍然是一个工人。

5.bymistake错误地

是介词短语,意为“错误地;无意地;不小心地”,指由于错误的判断而千百万的失误,常在句中作状

6.mentionv.提到,说到

比如说,它提到了拉链是WhitcombJudson在1893奉发明的。

【拓展】mention经常出现在口语中,如Don'tmentionit.表示“不客气”或者“别提了”。

7.doubtn.疑嬴疑问v.怀疑

①doubt+名词或者代词

②doubt+宾语从句

12.notonly...butalso不仅……而且……

Eg:Basketballhasnotonlybecomeapopularsporttoplay,butithasalsobecomeapopularsporttowatch.篮

球成为一项不仅可以玩的流行运动,也可以观看的流行运动。

1.notonly...but(also)...在句中常用来连接两个对等的成分,also可以省略。

Eg:HeislearningnotonlyEnglishbut(also)French.他不但在学英语,而且还在学法语。

ShespeaksRussiannotonlyinclassbut(also)athome.她在课堂上和家里都说俄语。

2.notonly...but(also)…用来连接两个主语时,谓语动词的单、复数遵循“就近原则”,即和but(also)后

的名词或代词的数一致。

Eg:NotonlyZhouXiabutalsoherparentsarefondofwatchingfootballmatches.

不但周霞,而且她的父母都喜欢看足球比赛。

Notonlyyoubutalsoheistiredofhavingoneexaminationafteranother.

不但你,而且他也讨厌一次接一次的考试。

3.notonly...but(also)…连接两个分句,当notonly位于句首,前一个分句常用倒装来表示强调,而but

(also)后的分句仍用陈述语序。

Eg:Notonlyistheteacherhimselfinterestedinforeignfilms,butalsoallhisstudentsarebeginningtoshowan

interestinthem.不但老师自己对外国电影感兴趣,就连他所有的学生也开始对外国电影感兴趣了。
