increasedspacebetweenlet-tersprovidedabenefitforbothgroups.Onaverage,thedyslexiagroup

showeda13%increaseinreadingspeed,whilethegroupofnon-dyslexicchildrenshoweda5%

increase.Inadditiontoimprovingreadingspeed,italsoresultedinasignificantdeclineinthe

numberofwordsmissedbythechildrenwithdyslexia.However,thestudyfoundthatcoloured

overlayshadnosignificantimpactonreadingspeedorthereduc-tionoferrorsforeithergroup.

DrStagg,SeniorLecturerinPsychologyatARU,said:"Webelieveextra-largeletterspacingworks

byreducingwhatisknownasthe'crowdingeffect',whichcanhampertherecognitionoflettersand

re-ducereadingspeed.n

“Ourfindingsstronglysuggestthatteacherscanbeconfidentthatallchildrenwouldbehelpedby

increasedletterspacinginreadingmaterials.DrStaggadded."Whilewefoundthatcoloured

analyzetheencryptedCTscansofmorethan1,500people'slungs.InapaperpublishedinOctober

2021,theteamusedFHEtocollectdatafrommultiplesourcesandpredictedtheeffectofcancer

treatmentsortheprocessofHIVinfection,asinFellay'scase.

Workable,butstillslow:calculationsontheFHE-encrypteddatacouldtakemillionsoftimeslonger
