若以辅音结尾的单词后面跟着以元音开头的单词，这个辅音就和后面的元音连在一起发音，犹如这两个音构成了一个单词。

Nowlistentohowthewords“like”and“another”arelinked.

现在听下单词“like”和“another”是如何连在一起的。

“Likeanother”,“like-another”.“Like”endsinaconsonantsound,and“another”beginswithavowelsound.

单词“like”是以辅音结束的，而单词“another”是以元音开头的。

Sothe“k”from“like”islinkedtothe“a”from“another”toproduce“kanother”.

因此，单词“like”中的“k”和单词“another”中的“a”连在一起发“kanother”.

再听下这个例句。

Rememberthatstressedsyllablesaresaidlouderandarelengthened,andunstressedsyllablesarepronouncedmoresoftly,andoftenhavethevowelsoundsreduced.

要记住重音的音节会发得会大声，声音会延长，而非重读音节就会发得较轻，但常常是元音声音降低。

Sometimes,thisdifferencecanbethedifferencebetweenaverbandanoun,oranadjective.

有时，这种不同可以区分动词与名词或形容词。

Thereareatleast14pairsofwordsinwhichsyllablestressalonemakesthisdifference.

至少在十四组单词里面，重读音节就会区分单词。

Permit就是一个动词。

意思就是允许。

Forinstance,fishingisn’tper`mittedherewithouta`permit.

比如说，没有许可证是不允许在这里钓鱼。

Anotherexampleis`perfectandper`fect.`Perfectisanadjective.

另一个例子就是`perfect和per`fect，`perfect是一个形容词。

Itmeans100%correct,nomistakesorerrors.

意思就是正确，没有错误。

Theverbisperfect,itmeanstomakesomethingperfect.

perfect是个动词，意思是使…完善。
