spellingreforminEngland，theinfluencesofthosewhopreferredtheNorman(orAngloFrench)spellingsofcertainwordsproveddecisive.SubsequentspellingadjustmentsintheUKhadlittleeffectonpresent-dayUSspelling，andviceversa(反的)．WhileinmanycasesAmericanEnglishdeviated(偏离；脱离)inthe19thcenturyfrommainstreamBritishspelling，ontheotherhandithasalsooftenretainedolderforms.ThespellingsystemsofCommonwealthcountries，forthemostpart，closelyresembletheBritishsystem.InCanada，however，whilemostspellingis“British”，many“American”spellingsarealsoused.AdditionalinformationonCanadianandAustralianspellingisprovidedthroughoutthearticle.【诱思导学】
