从电脑字数统计情况看,文章累计词数1680个,题目词数720,阅读理解题总词数2400。其阅读速度为:2400÷35≈69个词/分(06和07两年都为72词/分)。从数字上看,这个速度高于高考英语科设定的基本要求65词/分,低于《教学大纲》的要求70-80词/分。但是《教学大纲》的要求与《高考考试说明》的要求是有质的区别的:中学生平时的阅读是在具体目的不甚明确、没有太大外界压力的情况下进行的,采取的阅读方法基本为略读(skimming),也就是迅速阅读文章,以了解其主旨要义、作者态度等。而高考中的阅读活动则并非如此,考生既需要略读,以获取一些整体性信息;也需要查读(scanning),以获取所需的细节性信息。另外,考生还需要一些时间考虑试题的解答。因此,考生在考场中的实际阅读速度必须大于69词/分。
