Oneorganization,theSouthCarolinaAIDSEducationNetwork,formedin1985tocombatthegrowingnumberofAIDScases.Likemanylocalorganizations,thisorganizationsuffersfromalackofmoney,forcingittouseitsresourcescreatively.Toreachmorepeopleinthecommunity,someAIDSeducationalprogramsoperateoutofabeautyshop.TheownerhandsoutAIDSinformationtoallherclientswhentheyentertheshopandshowsvideosonAIDSpreventionwhiletheywaitfortheirhairtodry.Shealsokeepsbooksandotherpublicationsaroundsocustomerscanreadthemwhilewaitingfortheirappointments.It’samazinghowmanypeopleshehaseducatedonthejob.
