2MechanicalOverview
Thephysicalsizeofthepowersupplyenclosureisdefinedintwoformfactors.Thepowersupplyshallcontainasingleordualrotor40mmfan.Thepowersupplyhasacardedgeoutputthatinterfaceswitha2x25cardedgeconnectorinthesystem.TheACplugsdirectlyintotheexternalfaceofthepowersupply.RefertothebelowattachedCPRSmechanicaldrawing.

Thepowersupplyshallhaveahandletoassistextraction.Themoduleshallbeabletobeinsertedandextractedwithouttheassistanceoftools.ThepowersupplyshallhavealatchwhichretainsthepowersupplyintothesystemandpreventsthepowersupplyfrombeinginsertedorextractedfromthesystemwhentheACpowercordispulledintothepowersupply.Thehandleshallprotecttheoperatorfromanyburnhazard.

2.4AcousticRequirements
Thepowersupplyshallincorporatevariablespeedfan(s).Thedeclaredsoundpowerlevels(LwAd)ofthepowersupplymustmeettherequirementsshowninthetablebelow.SoundpowermustbemeasuredaccordingtoECMA74()andreportedaccordingtoISO9296/ISO7779.Thesoundpressuremeasurementmustbemeasuredatadistanceof1mfromthefaceofthefan,centeredontheACconnectorfaceofthepowersupply.Thesoundpowermeasurementisoptionalandthesoundpressuremeasurementisrequired.
Ifthesystemhasredundantpower,thentherequirementisforbothpowersuppliescombined.Ifthesystemhasnonredundantpower,thentherequirementisforasinglepowersupply.
TheAmbientlistedinthetableistheinlettemperaturetothepowersupplyandisbasedonassuminga25Csysteminlettemperature.Accousticrequirementsforbothrackandpedestalsystemsareincludedinthetable.

CRPS185:The185mmdeepCRPSshallbeusedin2differenttypesofsystems;spreadcoreandstandardrack/pedestalsystems.ThespreadcoresystemspresentapositiveairflowpressuresincethesystemfansareinserieswiththePSU.Thestandardrack/predestalsystempresentanegativeairflowpressuresincethesystemfansareinparallelwiththePSUfans.Thesetwoairflowimpedancecurvesareshowninsection2.5.1.ThePSUshallbecapableofsupplyingtheairflowthatissufficientforcoolingitselfwheninstalledinthesesystems.
CRPS-265:The265mmdeepCRPSshallbeusedin2differenttypesofsystems;standardrack/predestalsystemsandmulti-nodesystems.Themulti-nodesystempresentahigherflowimpedanceandhigherinlettemperaturethanthestandardrack/pedestalsystems.
Thefollowingtableshowsthepowersupplythermaltestconditions.ThepowersupplyisintendedtobeinstalledinasystemwhichwillsupportlimitedoperationuptoASHRAEclassA4whichisamaximumof45Cinlettothesystem,howeverthetypicalmaximumoperatingambientforthesysteminlettemperatureis35C.

Insituationswhenthesystemcannotmaintaintherequiredmaximumpowersupplyinlettemperature,itisacceptableandexpectedthatthepowersupplyassertSMBAlert#duetoinlettemperatureandthrottletheprocessorsandmemoryinordertomaintainpowersupplycoolingandattempttopreventpowersupplyshutdownduetoovertemperature.Systemlevelthrottlingundertheseconditionsisacceptable.
ThemaxloadonthepowersupplymayvarybasedonACinputvoltage.Themaxloadstatedinsection5.1shallbeusedwhentestingatlowerACinputvoltages.
Powersupplyshallmeetthethermalrequirementsundertheloadandenvironmentalconditionidentifiedineachtable.Eventhoughthetableaddressesonlytheexhaustairtemperature,allothercomponentsinthepowersupplyshallalsomeettheirtemperaturespecificationsandlifetimerequirements.
ThepowersupplymustmeetULenclosurerequirementsfortemperatureriselimits.Allsidesofthepowersupplywithexceptiontotheairexhaustsidemustbeclassifiedas“Handle,knobs,grips,etc.heldforshortperiodsoftimeonly”.
