不定冠词a/an用法

三、重难点解释:

1.majority

【课文原句】

Themajorityofuscouldneverbethatwaybuttherearesomeclinicstohelppeoplewiththis

majority为名词,意为“大多数;大部分(人或物)”,常和the连用。例如:

Themajorityofthewomenworkingheresufferedthesameproblem.

Themajorityarefortheplan.

注意:

1)majority单独作主语时,谓语动词用单复数均可。例如:

Themajorityagreewithme/agreeswithme.

2)themajorityof+复数名词作主语时,谓语通常用复数;themajorityof+不可数名词

作主语时,谓语通常用单数。例如:

Themajorityofstudentsareopposedtotherulethattheymustgetupatsix.

Themajorityoftheworkhasbeenfinished.

【拓展】

majority还有“多数票”的意思。inthemajority意为“占多数"。例如:

2.impression

impression•般作可数名词,意为“印象;影响"。theimpressionofsb./sth.意为“对某人或

theimpressionthat...意为“有...的印象;以为(常指误以为)例如:

impression后可接同位语从句。例如:

impress作动词,意为“给...留下印象”。常用搭配有:impresssb.withsth.意为“以...给

3.prefer

【课文原句】

prefer为及物动词,意为“更喜欢;宁愿”,后面可接动词不定式或动词的-ing作宾语。例

如:

prefersb.todosth.意为“喜欢某人做某事例如:

Whenhedrank,hiswifepreferredhimtospendthedayout.

prefer接that从句时,从句♦般用虚拟语气。例如:

Heprefen-edthatsomeoneshoulddoitatonce.

注意:prefer的过去式和过去分词为preferred,preferred(>prefer不用于进行时。

prefersth./doing+to(介词)+sth./doing意为“喜欢...而不喜欢”;prefertodo...

ratherthando…意为”宁愿...而不愿5,;would/shouldprefertodo…意为“宁愿做某事”。
