0Time(0.5FigureAPPLICATIONTheTLV701xxseriesofdevicesbelongtoafamilyofultralow,IQ,low-dropout(LDO)regulators.IQremainsfairlyconstantoverthecompleteoutputloadcurrentandtemperaturerange.Thedevicesareensuredtooperateoveratemperaturerangeof–40°Cto+125°C.INPUTANDOUTPUTCAPACITORTheTLV701requiresa1-µForlargercapacitorconnectedbetweenOUTandGNDforstability.Ceramicortantalumcapacitorscanbeused.Largervaluecapacitorsresultinbettertransientandnoiseperformance.Althoughaninputcapacitorisnotrequiredforstability,whena0.1-µForlargercapacitorisplacedbetweenINandGND,itcounteractsreactiveinputsourcesandimprovestransientandnoiseperformance.Highervaluecapacitorsarenecessaryiflarge,fastrisetimeloadtransientsareanticipated.BOARD Inputandoutputcapacitorsshouldbeplacedasclosetothedevicepinsaspossible.Toavoidinterferenceofnoiseandrippleontheboard,itis mendedthattheboardbedesignedwithseparategroundplanesforVINandVOUT,withthegroundplaneconnectedonlyatthedeviceGNDpin.Inaddition,thegroundconnectionfortheoutputcapacitorshouldbeconnecteddirectlytothedeviceGNDpin.POWERDISSIPATIONANDJUNCTIONToensurereliableoperation,worst-casejunctiontemperatureshouldnotexceed+125°C.Thisrestrictionlimitsthepowerdissipationtheregulatorcanhandleinanygivenapplication.Toensurethejunctiontemperatureiswithinacceptablelimits,calculatetheumallowabledissipation,PD(max),andtheactualdissipation,PD,whichmustbelessthanorequaltoPD(max). umpowerdissipationlimitisdeterminedusingEquation
