Finallybythe19thcenturythelanguagewassettled.AtthattimetwobigchangesinEnglishspellinghappened:firstSamuelJohnsonwrotehisdictionaryandlaterNoahWebsterwroteTheAmericaDictionaryoftheEnglishLanguage.ThelattergavetheseparateidentitytoAmericanEnglishspelling.
