TradeSecrets Anyinformationthatmaybeusedintheoperationofabusinessandthatissufficientlyvaluabletoaffordanactualorpotentialeconomicadvantageisconsideredatradesecret.Examplesoftradesecretscanbeformulasforproducts,suchastheformulaforCoca-Cola;compilationsofinformationthatprovideabusinesswithacompetitiveadvantage,suchasadatabaselistingcustomers;andevenadvertisingstrategiesanddistributionprocesses.

formalities.However,Tradesecretstendtoescapeandprotectionisnotfree.Underthebestofcircumstances,firmsmustrestrictaccesstopremisesanddocuments,educatekeyemployeesandgovernmentinspectors,andcloselymonitorpublicationsandtradeshowpresentations.Althoughsecrecyisexpensivetomaintain,largecompaniesrelyheavilyonitwhenpatentsarenotavailable.Thelargerthecompany,themoreitneedslegalprotectionforitscommercialsecrets.
