4、is(1940).Charliesfamousfilms:ModernTimesChaplinsrobusthealthbegantoslowlyfailinthelate1960s,afterthecompletionofhisfinalfilmACountessfromHongKong,andmorerapidlyafterhereceivedhisAcademyAwardin1972.By1977,hehaddifficultycommunicating,andwasusingawheelchair.ChaplindiedinhissleepinVevey,Switzerlandon25

5、December1977.CharlieChaplinwassurvivedbyhiswife,ninechildrenand24grandchildren.ChaplinwasinterredinCorsier-Sur-VeveyCemetery,Switzerland.On1March1978,hiscorpsewasstolenbyasmallgroupofSwissmechanicsinanattempttoextortmoneyfromhisfamily.Theplotfailed;therobberswerecaptured,andthecorpsewasrecoveredelev
