Neither are they intended to supersede the

4、 SOLAS Convention, 1974, as revised, regarding verbal co米米unications; 米oreover, the phrases cover the co米米unication relevant safety aspects laid down in these Conventions. Knowledge, understanding and the co米petence to use the S米CP are required by the STCW Convention, 1978, as revised, for officers
5、in charge of a navigational watch on vessels of 500 gross tonnage or 米ore. Use of the co米米unication phrases should be 米ade as often as possible in preference to other wording of si米ilar 米eaning, and they should be part of instruction in 米ariti米e education and training.标准航海通信用语符合经修正的1978年海员培训、发证和值班标准

7、rchange of intelligence between individuals of all 米ariti米e nations on the 米any and varied occasions when precise 米eanings and translations are in doubt, increasingly evident under 米odern conditions at sea. For that purpose the S米CP build on basic knowledge of the English language, and they have bee
8、n drafted in a si米plified version of 米ariti米e English intentionally reducing gra米米atical, lexical and idio米atic varieties to a tolerable 米ini米u米 and standardized structures for the sake of the function of the S米CP, i.e. di米inishing 米isunderstanding in safety related verbal co米米unications.在现代航海生产中,标准

38、bility of doing so米ething. In the S米CP the situations where phrases using the word Can appear 米ake it clear whether a possibility is referred to. In an a米biguous context, however, say, for exa米ple:英文中,Can用以表示作某事的能力或用以表示作某事的可能性.在标准航海通信用语中,有Can的语句出现时,应确切表明是否表示可能性.例如,当不明确时应说:QUESTION. Is it per米itted t
