1、训练(十一)阅读七选五(一)How to cut back on playing video gamesAs you get older and shoulder more responsibilities in your life , your gaming time might need to adjust. Here s what worked well for me.Start tracking your gaming timeOneof the reasons why video gameseat up so muchtime is that they re so engaging.
2、 I can t count how many times I ve sat down to play games for “a couple of minutes and then looked up to see hours have gone by.Tracking your gaming time can help , says psychologist John M. Grohol.Prepare a spreadsheet or a piece of paper , and write down when you start playing a game and when you
3、stop. 1 I found it helpful.Start choosing games wiselyMMOs and RPGsfor example , are major time sinks. I would probably cry if I looked at my total time spent during the golden age of World of Warcraft .If you re having a hard time stepping away from these kinds of games because there s so much to d
4、o in them , cut them out of your gaming diet.That way, you can play in short bursts. I still indulge in these kindsof games occasionally , but I don t play as much as I used to.Figure out what you re escapingVideo gamesare a fun wayto de-stress and also one of the most advanced forms of escapism out

To reduce my gaming thirst , I started looking at my escapism habits from another angle.4Video gamesdo offer a nice respite from the harsh truths of reality.More often than not , I would be able to identify the things that were stressing me out and making me want to escape to virtual worlds

If work was getting me down , I d make a practical plan on how to improve it instead of grabbing a controller. 5 The real world doesn t always offer that , but it never will if you always run from the issues in your life.A.Why not get away from the game you are crazy about ?.Shift

They decide what they want in life and then get there by setting goals and making plans. Unsuccessful people just let life happen
10、by accident. Goals aren t difficult to set , and they aren t difficult to reach. 9 . You are the one who must decide what to pursue and in what direction to aim your life.,we are more likelyResearch tells us that when we write a goal down to achieve it. Written goals can be reviewed regularly , and
11、have more power.10, they are harder to neglect or forget. Also when you write your goals in a particular way , you are able to make yourself continuously aware of situations that will bring you nearer to your goals.A.Like contracts with yourselfB.Instead of just letting life happen to youC.Winners i

Students with part-time jobs can earn their own money, develop good time-management skills , and gain experience in the workplace.11 As they come into adulthood , earning an incom
14、e can increase their confidence. Some students need to work through school to afford tuition. 12 Still , the moneywill be theirs to spend as they wish, and they may appreciate it more because they worked for it.Students taking on a job on top of their studies will have less free time than non-workin
15、g students. 13 They learn to skip fun activities to finish their responsibilities. This prepares them for life after school when they can t find excuses for work that s not finished in time.Often , students take jobs that introduce them to their preferredcareer after school is over. 14 Even students
16、 who work in places not connected to their majors will look moreimpressive to potential employers. Employers look for employees who understand the work environment and work well as part of a team. 15 That will make it much easier for them to change their roles after leaving school.A.Others will set

20、three reading comprehension skills that I use to make my reading more productive.Make all of your notes searchable. Having searchable book notes is important for returning to ideas easily.17 An idea is only usefulif you can find it when you need it. There is no need to leave the task of reading comp
21、rehension merely up to your memory.18 When you go to the library , all of the books will be dividedinto different categories. In the real world , of course , knowledge is not separated into neatly defined boxes.19 For that reason , I try toconsider how the book I mreading is connected with all of th
22、e ideas that are already inside myhead. Wheneverpossible , I try to combine the lessons I m learning with previous ideas.Summarize the book in one paragraph. 20 It forces meto review my notes and consider what is really important about the book. In manycases, I find that I can usually get just as mu
