Lead students to know the characteristics of diphthongs in terms of the manner of articulation, the place of articulation and the force of articulation. 3. Help students differentiate diphthongs from vowels. 4. Help students acquire corr

3、ect pronunciation of diphthongs (T sets good models, detect and help ss correct whatever mistakes they may have; then ss do repetition work chorally and individually, in groups and in pairs). 5. Help students understand pronunciation of “-s”, “-es”, and falling tone, and practise rhythm when reading
