9、alog modems, the VersaLink Gateway allows you to use the same phone line for simultaneous voice/fax communications and high-speed Internet access, eliminating the need for dedicated phone lines for voice and data needs. In addition, VersaLink supports a variety of networking interfaces such as Wirel
10、ess 802.11b/g, ADSL, Ethernet, and USB, along with the following optional features:E1/UPLINK: Alternate WAN uplink portE4/DATA: Alternate Ethernet/USB connectionLayer w/2 QOS with VLAN taggingHotSpotSimultaneous public/private network supportHereafter, the Westell® VersaLink® Wireless Gate
11、way will be referred to as “Gateway.”The Westell Gateway is powered by an ENERGY STAR® qualified adapter. 2.SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSNever install any telephone wiring during a lightning storm.Never install telephone jacks in wet locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations.Ne
12、ver touch non-insulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected at the network interface.Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.WARNINGRisk of electric shock. Voltages up to 140 Vdc (with reference toground may be present on telecommunications c
13、ircuits. 3.1FCC Compliance Note(FCC ID: CH87500XX-07This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the Federal Communication Commission (FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful inte
14、rference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy, and if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur i
15、n a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment OFF and ON, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:Reorient or relocate the re
16、ceiving antenna.Increase the separation between the equipment and the receiver.Connect the equipment to a different circuit from that to which the receiver is connected.Consult the dealer or an experienced radio/TV technician for help.This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is
17、subject to the following two conditions:(1 this device may not cause harmful interference, and (2 this device must accept any interferencereceived, including interference that may cause undesired operation.WARNING: While this device is in operation, a separation distance of at least 20 cm (8 inches
18、must be maintained between the radiating antenna and users exposed to the transmitter in order to meet the FCC RF exposure guidelines. Making changes to the antenna or the device is not permitted. Doing so may result in the installed system exceeding RF exposure requirements. This device must not be
19、 co-located or operated in conjunction with any other antenna or radio transmitter. Installers and end users must follow the installation instructions provided in this guide. Modifications made to the product, unless expressly approved, could void the users rights to operate the equipment.47 CFR PAR
20、T 68 COMPLIANCE REGISTRATIONa This equipment complies with Part 68 of the FCC rules and the requirements adopted by the ACTA. On the bottom side of this equipment is a label that contains, among other information, a product identifier in the format US:AAAEQ#TXXXX. If requested, this number must be p
21、rovided to the telephone company.b The applicable certification jack Universal Service Order Code (“USOC” for this equipment is RJ11.c A plug and jack used to connect this equipment to the premises wiring and telephone network must comply with the applicable FCC Part 68 rules and requirements adopte
22、d by the ACTA. A compliant telephone cord and modular plug is provided with this product. It is designed to be connected to a compatible modular jack that is also compliant. See installation instructions for details.d The REN is used to determine the number of devices that may be connected to a tele
23、phone line. Excessive RENs on a telephone line may result in the devices not ringing in response to an incoming call. In most but not all areas, the sum of RENs should not exceed five (5.0. To be certain of the number of devices that may be connected to a line, as determined by the total RENs, conta
24、ct the local telephone company. The REN for this product is part of the product identifier that has the format US:AAAEQ#TXXXX. The digits represented by # are the REN without a decimal point (e.g., 01 is a REN of 0.1. e If this equipment, the Model 7500, causes harm to the telephone network, the tel
25、ephone company will notify you in advance that temporary discontinuance of service may be required. But if advance notice isn't practical, the telephone company will notify the customer as soon as possible. Also, you will be advised of your right to file a complaint with the FCC if you believe i
26、t is necessary.f The telephone company may make changes in its facilities, equipment, operations or procedures that could affect the operation of the equipment. If this happens, the telephone company will provide advance notice in order for you to make necessary modifications to maintain uninterrupt
27、ed service.g If trouble is experienced with this equipment, the Model 7500,for repair or warranty information, please contact your Internet Service Provider.If the equipment is causing harm to the telephone network, the telephone company may request that you disconnect the equipment until the proble
28、m is resolved.h If you experience trouble with this equipment (Model 7500, do not try to repair the equipment yourself. The equipment cannot be repaired in the field and must be returned to the manufacturer. Repairs to certified equipment should be coordinated by a representative, and designated by
29、the supplier. Contact your service provider for instructions.i Connection to party line service is subject to state tariffs. Contact the state public utility commission, public service commission or corporation commission for information.j If your home has specially wired alarm equipment connected t
30、o the telephone line, ensure the installation of this Model 7500 does not disable your alarm equipment. If you have questions about what will disable alarm equipment, consult your telephone company or a qualified installer.3.2Canada Certification NoticeThe Industry Canada label identifies certified
31、equipment. This certification means that the equipment meets certain telecommunications network protective, operations and safety requirements as prescribed in the appropriate Terminal Equipment Technical Requirements document(s. The department does not guarantee the equipment will operate to the us
32、ers satisfaction.This equipment meets the applicable Industry Canada Terminal Equipment Technical Specification. This is confirmed by the registration number. The abbreviation, IC, before the registration number signifies that registration was performed based on a Declaration of Conformity indicatin
33、g that Industry Canada technical specifications were met. It does not imply that Industry Canada approved the equipment. The Ringer Equivalence Number (REN is 0.0. The Ringer Equivalence Number that is assigned to each piece of terminal equipment provides an indication of the maximum number of termi
34、nals allowed to be connected to a telephone interface. The termination on an interface may consist of any combination of devices subject only to the requirement that the sum of the Ringer Equivalence Numbers of all the devices does not exceed five.Before installing this equipment, users should ensur
35、e that it is permissible to be connected to the facilities of the local Telecommunication Company. The equipment must also be installed using an acceptable method of connection. The customer should be aware that compliance with the above conditions may not prevent degradation of service in some situ

E2/E3/E4 Modular 8-pin (RJ-45 Ethernet jack Connects the Gateway to a PC or Hub via 10/100 BaseTEthernet.E4/DATA Modular 8-pin (RJ-45 Ethernet jack Connects the Y-cable provided with the kit to the 10/100 Base-T Ethernet DATA port on the rear of the Gatewa
53、y and to the Ethernet port on a PC or Hub. The USB connector built in to the Y-cable also functions through the Gateways E4/DATA port. When the Ethernet connector is plugged in to the Gateways DATA port, the USB cable canthen be plugged in to the USB port on a PC or Hub. Thus, theY-cable provides In
54、ternet connectivity via Ethernet or USB;however, both connectors cannot be used sumultaneously. Ifboth connectors are installed in a PC or Hub at the same time,only the connector that syncs up first will be used.POWER Barrel connector Connects the 12 VDC power connector to an AC wall jack. 4.4Instal

58、onventional device. Failure to do so may degrade telephone voice quality and DSL performance. Install a microfilter if you desire to use the DSL-equipped line jack for telephone, answering machine, fax machine, or other telephone device connections. Microfilter installation requires no tools or telephone rewiring. Just unplug the telephone device from the baseboard or wall mount and snap in a microfilter; next, snap in the telephone device. You can purchase microfilters
