3、nd goes dow n about 200 metres.Because there is sun light at this level,plants are ableto grow.Marine animals such as dolphins,sharks,sea turtles andsea lions,and of course a variety of fish,live in the sunlit(阳光普照的)part ofthe ocean.It is difficult to hide from other animals in this area.The sec ond

4、 zone starts at 200 metres and goes dow n to about 1,000 metres.Somesun light can reach this level,but it is not eno ugh for pla nts to grow.Because this zone is relativelydark,many of the creatures that live here are able to make lightwith their body.The light from these animals makes the water loo

5、k like a sky with moving stars in it.The third zone of the ocean is dark.This place,about 3,000 metres deep,maynot seem a likely habitat,but there are more creatures here tha n one might th in k.Most of the ani malsthat live here are black or red because of the lack of light.Below 4,000 metres,the t

6、emperature is near freezing and there is no light at all .In fact,the zoneis so dark and empty that scie ntists n amed this zone after the Greek word forno bottom”.There isnot much life to be found in this coldand un pleasa nt part of the ocea n, but some small creatures stillman age to survivehere

7、despite the high water pressure.The very deepest part of the ocea n is found 2,000 metres further dow n.At this depth,the waterpressure is extremely high and life isvery difficult for the fewcreatures that live herepared to the other zones,this one has very littlelife.Sincethere is no light here,som
