The skills of finding key words.Design conception: Let the Ss know the key elements in the story: Who, What, Where, Why, How. They are the key points to understand a story.Procedures

2、:Step One: Lead-in( 2)T: Look at the picture on Page 93/screen. What can you see from this picture? Can you guess what this guy is? Yes, he is a pirate who has a lot of treasure.(Write “ pirate” and “ treasure” on the blackboard.)Step Two: Prediction (1)Today were going to read an interesting story.

3、 Look at the title: An introduction to Treasure Island. Could you please tell me what is the name of the story? Yes, Treasure Island. Because it is in italics. Lets try to guess what the passage is about? A: The main idea of Treasure Island.B: The pirates in the story.The right answer is A. Why? Bec

4、ause this word “introduction”. We can say the title can give us useful information.Step Three: Skimming : Circle peoples names.(1)How many characters are there in the story? As we know, personsnames are often capitalized, like “Long John Silver. “Look through the passage quickly and circle the names

5、. How many people in the passage? Who are they? Theyre Jim, Flint, Silver and Ben”Step Four: Scanning: What are they? (2) Now lets try to find out what they are. People in the story all have identities. Ill show you an example: In this part (link text)“ Treasure Island is a famous story. The hero, J

6、im Hawkins, finds Captain Flints map. “We can find out Jim is a hero of the story. What does hero mean here? A: The most important person in the story.B: The person who is very brave in the war.Yes, it means the most important person in the story, such as Harry Potter is the hero in the Harry Potter
